Not to sound morbid, but has anyone died? I hope not

According to CNN at least 33 people have died.

Like Janszoon said, it's just showing the size of the storm relative to the size of Europe. That's the actual size of the storm superimposed on a map - to scale. Supposing the eye of the storm happened to occur where the picture shows, you would probably be having high winds, heavy rain, power loss and trees falling, and maybe flooding there in Dublin.
I just thought it was interesting. Western Europe is such a tiny place, and this storm is so large.

And on top of that, about 80 homes in Queens have been lost to floods and/or fires. Some houses were torn from their foundations.
Lots of survivors are now homeless. And this is just in the US. Many more dead in the Caribbean.

Man, that's awful. I really was not expecting this storm to be so chaotic.

I can sympathize, as a Louisiana born & raised guy.
But had New York been equipped with Pirogues...

There's also a risk of ice storms and severe snow storms and blizzards in the more northern parts. As far as I know, there are no active volcanoes in Canada.
In Wellington we have a huge earthquakes risk, obviously Christchurch now too (which was unknown before that there were fault lines), Dunedin and Invercargill has blizzard and flood risk and Auckland/Rotarua has active Volcanoes. So it's pretty normal I think.

Holy ****ing ****.

I'm alive

We just got power back which is really lucky considering NYC is going to be without power for another week. Towns around me either have power or don't. Our shores are gone. There are trees down everywhere around me. My house and family are all safe but we have cleaning up to do. I'll be posting a lot of my own pictures soon once I get enough. I get the opportunity to go out and work in the next few days. It's a ****ing madhouse here. You should see the gas station lines. It's incredible. People are waiting hours for a tank of gas at the few stations that have power.

Incredible. I'll keep everyone posted. I hope everybody else on the board that is in NJ is okay.

This is all just around my area of town. I'll have more when I go out to work.
