Western astrologers believe that your personality is based on many different celestial factors. They need to know the position of all the stars, planets, moons, etcetera that were directly above you when you popped out of a womb.

I dont think things like that matter much, you can easily learn what your sign's traits are by reading various astrology websites. Here's a good website for example.

Zodiac Signs - Learn About Astrology Signs - Zodiac-Signs-Astrology.com

I'm Cancer. I have read a couple of books about it. I'm on the cusp of Cancer and it has a very accurate descriptions of my personality. I generally don't follow it but still find it interesting even if it's potentially fake.

My dad is on the cusp also of Gemini/Cancer interesting. June 21st. He also writes books on occassion which you mentioned earlier. Its all a crap shoot with dice but I still find myself on occassion reading mine.

You know. Tin foil hats? It's usually used to mock conspiracy nuts. Not that I was really mocking you, I just love that pic and use it whenever possible.

Also, it's not like it's a random picture of unknown people.

It doesn't matter what you think though. The fact is that astrology is a lot more complex than it is generally presented on the internet or, in the olden days, the horoscope section of newspapers.

You should read this: What is Astrology? and How the Astrology Chart Works. Those articles represent how "real astrologers" interpret a person's character traits.

Also, like I said before, I don't believe in astrology but if I did I would have to accept that the common way of matching your birthdate to a Zodiac Sign is not the correct way to do it. Here's one reason why (this is not even something that debunks astrology in general): Astrology: Why Your Zodiac Sign and Horoscope Is Wrong.

My question is why is any of this relevant to anything more important to celestial bodies being in a certain place at a certain time?
Certainly there can't be people out there that attribute personality traits to such things?

*goes home disappointed*

Scarlett O'Hara 01-24-2013 08:41 PM

I'm starting to see a normal distribution curve building up on the poll, it's getting me kind of excited.

Yeah, I think most rational people don't believe in astrology. Like someone said before, MBTI is a much better way of interpreting your personality.

Although, quick-and-easy internet versions of the test are not the real thing. The actual test costs money to take and includes many, many questions - not 20 or 30 idiotic, obvious ones like "When you're at a party do you talk to a lot of people or stand in a corner by yourself?"

Unfortunately and regardless of what we believe, simply clicking a link and reading the blurb it leads to is not going to accurately tell us who we are :p:

I stand in a corner and just start talking until a crowd forms. We Sagittarians are very magnetic people.

Burning Down 01-24-2013 09:14 PM

Yeah, I prefer the MBTI method as well. I'm an ESFJ.

I'm simply wondering how the validity of any sort of test whose basis for determining something as subjective and culturally/socially influenced as the basis of a personality could be laid on a foundation of where stars and planets are at the moment of birth.
That's all I'm saying. I'm not accusing you of following that or anything. But It's weird that there are a lot of people that do.

I mean, if we create a foundation out of that, we might as well start a system that dictates personalities on the basis of how many orange cats are within a 1-mile radius of the hospital. And while that would be a little harder to document, I don't think it would be any less arbitrary than where the stars were at that same time.

Hehe, no I'm the life of the party. Cancerian's are supposed to be introverted but there's no way in hell that's accurate for me.

Guys, Ive been thinking about something. If pregnancy lasts for about 9 months, and Im born in January, then does that mean my parents have done the sexual intercourse that led to my birth in April?

Uh.. yeah. April does precede January by 9 months.

Thanks. To be honest this pretty interests me. Actually, when I look at the poll it seems most people around here are Libra. Libra is in September-October, so I guess their parents have done the sex in December-January eh?

Wait a hot minute, both of you are virgin births?

Somebody either has to tell jesus he ain't special, or has to fess up about having virgin adoptive parents, or virgin artificial inseminating parents.

Or you must reply to this with a picture of saggy baboon titties, so I will know your true intent.

I wonder if the parents that adopt children tell the children that they adopt that they are adopted, or keep it a secret from them. I heard some people only realize they were adopted after they reach adulthood.

We dont have to talk about it if you dont want to.

Are there any other Capricorns than me here? I see not a single vote for Capricorn so far.

From what I hear that's the highest time for conception. Apparently it's due to New Year's when people get wasted.

She was insinuating she was immaculately conceived, not adopted, hope that helps. We can talk about it if not.
