I graded in Karate yesterday, forgot to tell y'all!! Woo-hoo!
Im now- Shotokan Karate-2nd Dan-Nidan. Their's 5 dans in a black belt, 1-5, 1st being lowest, 5th being highest (and very unlikely for me to get) 5th Dan (godan) 4th Dan (yodan) 3rd Dan (sandan) 2nd Dan (nidan)<---me 1st Dan (shodan) All the name represents is the name of the level. i.e. 5th dan is called godan. Im trying to explain so y'all understand how much this means to me!! Woo-hoo! Iv'e been at my dojo since 9am,I finished bout 11-30, 12ish. I had to watch everyone else grade as the black belts go last. It took me 25 mins to finish my grading, then they made me wait 20 minutes to see if I graded or not. Ooo hoo im so happy!

Awesome!! Well done thats great. I had to quit a month before I got my second Dan, it sucks! I dont even know if I can go back now either, we've switched federations and things are all messed up because of money issues... Fleh, never mind.

that means my friend got her shodan 3 years ago.i don't know where she's at now, but i thought there were 10 levels in black belt and nobody has gotten past the 7th or 8th level...or something..........

Depends on many thing. The belt system could be different depending on
1) What school you go to (for me it's a hall/leisure centre due to the annoying lack of dojo's in my area.Grr!) 2) The style of Karate As far as I know, there are only 5 dan in Shotokan, unless someone changed the grading system since this moning lol! Oh my god that'd be terrible. I'd have to start over *shudders*
