The Worst Trends Thread

I thought it might be interesting to see what everyone thinks is today's "Worst Trend". So just post what you think is the worst, stupidest, or my annoying trend that you see happening. Please don't flame others for their opinions though. This is just to see whats happening in the world around us, not to start a debate. :)

Sneer 06-02-2005 08:10 AM

the emo trend. absolutely hate it. i have no problem with people who actually really like the music and have a lot of knowledge on it- but these little idiots who invest in a hoodie or two, dye their hair black, sweep it over one eye, get a couple of piercings then walk around believing they are the reincarnation of christ really piss me off. then when you talk to them and ask them their favourite bands- they'll reply with either MCR or the ****ing used. thier in it more for the look then the music and as a whole that mindset really annoys. im done.

I really hate those ugly goth girls with dreads or stupid hair colours, face caked in make up & those horrible horrible stripey tights or fishnets.

That wins without a doubt... Theres this town/city thang (too big for a town, too small for a city) just upcountry from me, and its filled with hundreds of people just like that. I dont get why none of them are attractive either, it makes no sense... All the shops up there sell all the same stuff though, everything is black or stripey or fishnet, everything has Emily Strange on it or Nightmare Before Christmas.. Everything has hundreds of zips and buckles that arent needed on... Its just annoying.

writting bomb threats in bathrooms in school. we have had two so far this year. thats three in two years now. SWWWWWWWWEEEEEEEETTTTTTTT!!!!!!!

ladyluckrules 06-02-2005 10:06 AM

In my school everyone one has reverted back to being 5 year olds with a new craze, the scooby...They are strings of plastic that people spend the whole blo0dy day weaving into a retarded bracelet or keyring, not only does it look awful it requires effort. This is the only craze I've seen both 5 year olds and 14 year olds enjoy equally and now there are rainbow scoobys, sparkly scoobys and jumbo scoobys woop de fing doo.

ok, you won't understand this, but there's this horrible trend of listening to turbo balkan folk music in croatia, mainly from serbian artists, i don't understand how people can do that, especially regarding the events that took place here 10 years ago...it frustrates me because i don't want my country to be connected with the balkans...( culturally we've never belonged there, we were always pro european )

This is all very scary as the kids at my school have became quite obsessed, if you dared touch their scooby thing they would probably bite your arm off.

ladyluckrules 06-02-2005 12:29 PM

Yes, never touch it, there's drugs in the plastic that's being absorbed through their skin, the rainbow scoobys have acid in them

AprilMay 06-02-2005 12:34 PM

lol, at our school they baned those charity wristbands but said that it was ok to have the scoobies. That reminds me charity wristbands are a trend that I hate because people are just wearing them to make a fashion statement rather than becasue they care about the charity.

ArtistInTheAmbulance 06-02-2005 01:08 PM

^Seriously, dont get me started on them... It really really bugs me. That wins, thats the worst f*cking thing to become a trend ever. Thats all it is, a trend now... People couldnt care less what they're "supporting", they probably bought all theirs off of ebay.

AprilMay 06-02-2005 01:24 PM

^I hate them so much especially the fake ones, i mean what is the point, i would rather just give the money to charity.

ArtistInTheAmbulance 06-02-2005 01:33 PM

^Ah, but that wouldnt be fashionable, would it...

pastor of muppets 06-02-2005 07:41 PM

man i got one of them before everyone else cos it was at the newsagent an then everyone else started gettin them so i stopped wearing mine and also our school banned them... now im depressed...

The epitome of nervousness I am in that class. :p:

Is that like a hardcore electric acordian/tumbura band?
I wonder how good the vocals are.......

This is irrelevant to the topic but I was thinking about this Serbian band that plays at my centre and the one guy had this sweeeeeeeeet German saxophone.
It was the sweetest thing I have ever heard and I mean I have a Selmer Series III and all but it's busted as hell compared to that.
That made me mad for sometime, why'd you have to make me think of that adidass?!?!

Okay, the worst trend now.....
I would say drama but that's been going on for ever.
It seems like every average joe's a real thespian nowadays...

BUT I would have to say the worst trend of 2005 is "emo" but not really emo.
I would say rap because I loved it and then it faded away after people started saying the word bling was in the dictionary and rappers only used three words in a song.

Oh by the way can anyone help me out?
I'm wondering about a song Tupac did a cover of.
I think it might be "The Way It Is" but I'm not sure and I don't know the original band that sang it.

Sorry I was rambling but it's 12:51 and all....
12:51 is the time my voice found the words I sought...is this the stage I want??
The world is shutting out, for us.
Talk to me now I'm ol...................I'm done. :p:

I dont like it how its both trendy to be emo and make fun of emo. Make up your mind already. One day these kids are emo, the next day they hate it. It all depends on the day of the week.

dog 06-03-2005 05:00 AM

guys wearin pink shirts and sayin theyre "watermelon" or "tinge". flare pants. guys having tips. 'sigh' the 40's was the best time for fashion- suits and hats bogie style

ArtistInTheAmbulance 06-03-2005 06:48 AM

^Haha "faded salmon" shirts... I thought it was fun, I prefer that to all the velour tracksuits I see around now. But then, I prefer almost anything to that.

Josephine 06-03-2005 08:49 AM

The 80's rivival...This incredibly cruel taste in clothes - disgusting...And more than twenty years later people wear the same horrible clothes again! I mean, you can be fooled once, but twice? What bout technical progress?

AND: Boys (or even men) wearing PINK clothes. There're some guys on this planet who could wear everything. They would still look gorgeous. But PINK? No, NO! No guy looks good in pink, I promise.

phoenixflames 06-03-2005 09:18 AM

^ You forgot the terriable 80's hair styles! You would think we would get smarter, seeings that its 2005, but hey, I guess time doesn't make people any smarter, or any better looking for that matter.

Oh, how could I forget bout this ridiculous haircuts (of what they might call "haircuts"!)!!! I guess I tried to repress this embarrassing chapter of the human age... But you're right: Look at George Michael! I mean I could forgive that people liked WHAM!, but shouldn't they take at least the band's hairstyle as a warning sign? But no, people never get any wiser, they do the same stupid things again and again, cuz it's "en vogue"!

phoenixflames 06-03-2005 10:20 AM

^ Funny thing is, history is just repeating itself. I don't think there has been anything new in fashion for a very long time. Huge clothes of the 90's was just a reincarnation of the zoot suits of the 40's. Alot of the 70's stuff is coming back as well (colors, clothing styles, etc.). I don't really know what year I want to have repeated, I don't think any of then were that cool or interesting...

i dont like this new trend of making up words...

ladyluckrules 06-05-2005 09:29 AM

I agree, let's burn the dictionary

phoenixflames 06-05-2005 10:35 AM

One trend that really annoys me is all the bands that have become all "political" and are trying to "change the world". I can see why they are doing it, but it has just become the popular thing to do, and I wonder if some (if not most), are just doing it because its "cool". If they really mean everything they say, then more power to them. Its their right to say what they want, but I just hope they really mean it and aren't just doing it because its fashionable.
