He's not dating world Ass. He's dating his girlfriend. And obviously her father meant a lot to her. All he (slappy) had to do is be there for her and listen to her.

Yeah, because you totally "get over it" when someone close to you passes away.

I don't think I've ever seen someone so unfeeling in my entire life.

You're either a troll or the saddest human being in existence.

It's actually pretty realistic.

I've had many loved ones die on me. It sucks pretty badly, and you always think of these people, but grief IS grief. It does not, and SHOULD NOT last forever. It's a period of time where you learn how to cope with the loss, and it ends when you can live life on your own terms again.

I would never tell someone to 'get over it' in terms of grief, though. It's not something you have immediate control of. It's a process. But if you're doing the right thing, the bulk of it will become a memory, and not a life-altering factor.

Leaving aside for a moment the issue of the father's anniversary (I'll give you my opinion on that if you want it) but even that aside, I have never heard such a stupid assertation in my life. How can ANY site be more important than the ones you love? This is diversion, entertainment, a place to kick back and maybe offer or take advice or enjoy doing what you do, but if your loved ones need you there's a logout button and a shutoff key on your computer --- use it!

I love this site, but if my sister or any family member I get on with needed me, this would be put to one side. It's only a website, a forum, a thing. You need to prioritise. There's nothing as important as the people you love. They won't always be here, you know. What would you rather say, that you spent more time idly talking online with people you have never met in person or were there for the people who needed you?

If I've read the intent of the question wrong I apologise, but I can't see any way other than how I've read it.

Like Lister said in "Red Dwarf": they're just things. They don't matter. People matter.

People deal with grief differently, though. That may be his way, which is fine, but I would never tell someone else to "get over it".

Yeah I agree with this statement, especially when you've been frequenting the same forum for years.

Although actually saying an internet forum means more to you than real life family members seems a bit tight.

How would this site be more important than the ones I love? EVER??

I totally agree. I love this place and really enjoy talking to a lot of people who post here, but my actual life always come first.
