Default Karma

Do you believe in it? Do you think what goes around comes around?

I see the merits of it, especially when people are nasty to each other. I don't want to hold grudges as it makes other people uncomfortable.

I tend to put all the bad things that happen to me down to karma, and just assume that they've happened because I've previously done something wrong. Kind of as encouragement to be a better guy.

I don't fully believe in karma, though I do think it's a great concept.

I dont tend to believe in anything that suggests that things happen for a reason, or that things balance out, bad people will get theirs in the end etc.

I just think that people like to believe in it in favour of what would otherwise be a much harsher reality.

I believe in it but it's pretty obvious that for some people it never happens. I could give you examples but you know, my sis and all... I do however tend to believe that if, for instance, I found someone's wallet/purse/credit card and didn't hand it in or try to find out whose it was bad luck would follow me. But then, I'd hand it in anyway cos I'm just that sort of guy. I once made sure a handbag which had been left at a bus stop found its way back to the owner, who had returned to Holland. I used my freight connections to get it on one of our trucks heading there and had it dropped in. They sent me back a plant in thanks. My mam loved it. Probably because it was a sign of my good nature I guess.

So in that sense, yeah I guess karma worked for me.

The idea of karma in the value laden sense is a vast misunderstanding of Hindu cosmology.
