Landmarks....

Just wondering...how in the hell...it gets smaller and smaller, the structure as you get to the top...so what are there 10 books up there and an ancient librarian... (WHICH WOULD BE INSANELY COOL )It's a gorgeous building don't get me wrong...I am just wondering...

There are some interesting landmarks in Toronto and the surrounding area. Of course the CN Tower and beside it, the Skydome (well Rogers Centre now but everyone still calls it Skydome). My own photo:

Old City Hall. It's now a provincial courthouse:

City Hall, right next door:

First Canadian Place (white building, my own photo from the CN Tower). Tallest skyscraper in Canada, at 90 floors (I think).

Queen's Park, Legislative Assembly of Ontario. Right in the middle of the University of Toronto campus, and so this landmark is consistently flanked by student protesters, as you can see.

One of my favourite landmarks is the Flatiron Building, actually called the Gooderham Building.

this is a traveling land mark, it's here sometimes, and sometimes it's on loan to other cities

Penshaw Monument brings with it a great sense of familiarity and safety for me. I think that has a lot to do with the ability to see it from a great distance, so if I travel I always know I'm nearly home when I see this on the skyline.

The Sage in Gateshead is a modern concert hall. They have two large halls, and a separate, smaller gig venue. Its really spacious inside too, so they have a bar, a cafe, and often various exhibitions in the interior and the foyer. They have also had some festivals and gigs outside, which is nice as it stands along the river Tyne which separates Gateshead from Newcastle.

This is an eye-sore, but we're told it's "kind of a big deal". I think the Angel of the North is still the largest sculpture in England or something stupid. All I know is you can drive along the A1 towards or away from Newcastle and if you're with someone who isnt from the area and familiar with it, will undoubtedly ask what the **** it is.

And this is, uh, a sculpture made out of shopping trolleys, next to The Telegraph pub in Newcastle. I dont think theres anything else to say about that.

Cost millions of taxpayers' Euro, nobody likes it, represents nothing except the Irish Government giving its people the largest finger in the world!

But then we have decent ones of two of our favourite sons...

YES! Big Phil outside of Bruxelles! I adored that pub. I dont know what its like now. Phil was vandalised not so long ago, wasnt he? Was he cut down or something?

Oh The Angle of the North, looks like Christ The Redeemer with wings... The first one is ****in stunning... and THE SHOPPING CART ART IS FREAKIN BOSS...
