How masculine or feminine are you?

I'm a male who would describe himself as somewhat androgynous in how I think and perceive myself. I like having longer hair, having a skinny feminine bodily figure, etc. Plus I love wearing skinny jeans of all colors, wristbands, and wearing tighter fitting shirts that hug my body. I do like many activities that society labels as masculine, such as a huge interest in violent video games, action movies, building and putting things together, aggressive rock/metal music, etc.

I guess I'm not really that abnormal in terms of gender identity and self expression, but I do have a prominent feminine side that I like to express through my clothing. My style would probably fit in with the scene kid crowd, even though I'm not that tacky or flashy.

So, males and females of MB, how masculine or feminine are you? I'm simply curious.

butthead aka 216 01-22-2014 01:03 AM

all masculine. in all honesty i make fun of feminine men in real life, sue me. i dont hate i jsut think they look and act like goofs. i have a long goatee and shaved head, love sports, like guns, dont give a dikc about fashion or any of that crap. like to drink beers n watch football. just ur average guy i guess youd say.

Taxman 01-22-2014 01:10 AM

A man and I probably have the both sides

Sequoioideae 01-22-2014 04:01 AM

I have man parts, and man urges towards the opposite sex. I find violence interesting to a point, but I enjoy peaceful resolutions. I have the figure of male, but I'm not good at sports, more of a spazz really. I think I tend to gravitate more towards the masculine end of the spectrum, but I also enjoy cute things and art.

Here's where I think I lie.

MasculineI AM THE FEMALE WEEZY........Feminine

Sansa is banned.

Regarding the OP, I don't know. It varies depending on the topic.

Edit: 216 - live in the suburbs your whole life my friend. Never leave.

djchameleon 01-22-2014 05:01 AM

I don't give two shits about society's labels and you shouldn't either.

There are women that love video games, violent action movies, building shit and listening to heavy metal and they aren't any less feminine for it.

All of that seems to be a very American view of masculinity though. Other cultures have a different interpretation of what represents masculinity and femininity.

butthead aka 216 01-22-2014 09:27 AM

Well I'm american so it makes sense and I consider myself an average guy in the burbs with a lil bit of redneck. I said before I like the general paraneters of gender roles cause I've seen them work. Big3 don't worry I ain't leavin the burbs bro lol

Janszoon 01-22-2014 09:53 AM

I don't really buy into the whole concept of masculine versus feminine honestly. Being a big guy with a beard, I'm sure no one would describe me as androgynous, but as far as my attitudes and the things I like I don't consider myself a part of that spectrum.

^ This describes me as well.

Dayvan Cowboy 01-22-2014 10:23 AM

Mostly feminine. I'm 5 foot and have enough boobs to make my back hurt, but I have short hair and look like a boy. I'm also into historically manly things like physics and math and computers, but I also knit and can cut hair well and **** like that

I love every post you make.

I know you're American so that's why I made that statement. You passed off your view as the general benchmark for what represents masculinity. I am masculine but in a different way.

What are some of the differences between your concept of masculinity and Butthead's?

Key 01-22-2014 11:45 AM

I'm more feminine.

Paul Smeenus 01-22-2014 12:13 PM

I have a lot of both. That's why I like hockey and women's figure skating, it's why I like Carcass and The Ditty Bops.

Plankton 01-22-2014 12:15 PM

I'm a lesbian.

RoxyRollah 01-22-2014 12:17 PM

Isbjørn 01-22-2014 02:49 PM

Growing a beard my age requires a miracle, and my style of clothing is pretty standard, though maybe I look a bit more messy than my peers. My music taste includes both metal and emo. My conclusion? I don't know, but I don't really care either.

I meant it seriously.

Trillian 01-22-2014 06:58 PM

Well, I'm a girl, but I have a pixie cut and don't really like high heels or skits/dresses (unless they have pockets, then they're fine). I really like sneakers, but that could be because I have flat feet and joint issues. I like the more "masculine" disciplines like math and science as opposed to history. But I like literature and music, so there's that. In general I'm of the opinion that function trumps form, but that form is important too. I like cooking. I like wearing fancy winged eyeliner. I like sewing. I don't like carrying purses. I'm assertive when it comes to stating my opinion.

Why are some things considered more masculine or feminine, though? I mean, I've been mistaken for a boy before (only briefly though, because my figure is DEFINITELY feminine), probably because people see short hair and automatically assume short hair=boy. But I don't feel less female because I do some things that aren't "feminine". I think the idea that certain behaviors are masculine or feminine is kind of pointless because it's so dependent upon culture.

GuD 01-22-2014 07:03 PM

I've always had an androgynous body type. I'd like to put on a good 15 pounds or so though, mostly to fill out upper body a bit as it's kinda of disproportional to the rest of me. Mentally, I guess by cliche American standards I waver back and forth. I've never cared about being considered masculine, feminine, or anything else really. I am me and if anyone has a problem with that they can suck it.

Forward To Death 01-22-2014 10:44 PM

I'd have to say I'm more masculine, because I fart a lot, and drink beer.

ladyislingering 01-22-2014 11:39 PM

I'd say that I'm decidedly more feminine than masculine. I like having my long hair; I like makeup and cute things and handbags. Then again I've also been known to chill a lot more comfortably with dudes (they don't mind my twisted sense of humor and often times they seem to have a better taste in music, film, art, and everything else).

I don't really follow the typical gender norms for women (for instance, I have no interest in having kids or going into any profession that's seen as "typical" for women - I don't find any pleasure in romantic comedies, "chick flicks", manicures/pedicures, and I don't have a ton of girl friends) but I do identify as a cissexual female.

My sexuality, of course, is a completely different matter.

You should pamper yourself from time to time. Mani/Pedi and a massage are good for the soul regardless of gender.

Frownland 01-23-2014 10:18 AM

When I was trimming my beard today, one of the blades of my clippers broke in half. So I guess my answer would be masculine with some feminine crossovers (i.e. grooming).

FRED HALE SR. 01-23-2014 10:32 AM

I'd venture closer to the masculine side. My hobbies consist of masculine hobbies. I can literally shave and have a beard about an hour later. I probably need to get in touch with my feminine side a bit more, but I have time to do so.

James 01-23-2014 11:20 AM

I'm pretty feminine. I love shopping, I care about the way I look, I cook a lot and I have emotions.

The Batlord 01-23-2014 12:55 PM

I'm pretty feminine. I like to tell my friends that they've just missed the turnoff and light a bunch of candles when I masturbate.

Urban Hat€monger ? 01-23-2014 12:58 PM

I'm pretty feminine I get bad tempered & irrational once a month.
Mine tends to last around 30-31 days though.

Isbjørn 01-23-2014 03:16 PM

I'm butch as phuck, my beard is ten feet long and I need to wear sweatpants to get space for my giant wiener. Unfortunately, Batty doesn't agree, ONLY because of my magnificent tits.

So at the top of March you must be a real mother****er.

FETCHER. 01-23-2014 05:03 PM

I dunno what I am, quite a mixture I think.

I like generally girly things like high heels, bags, makeup, shopping, dresses, doing my hair and stuff like that but also love driving, dirt bikes, playstations, mountain biking, sport, the outdoors, trainers. I'm like two completely different people in one :).

gunnels 01-23-2014 07:09 PM

Well physically, I have a beard and am pretty hairy in general, but I also have a rather round facial structure and big thighs. More importantly though, I don't identify as particularly masculine or feminine. My gender comportment and expression is pretty neutral from my point of view. I've always considered my voice to be kind of androgynous (though we tend to hear our voices as deeper than what they actually are). I like shooty video games and stuff and occasionally partake in watching a FOOBAW game, but I also have little problem admitting I like cutesy things. I'm fairly submissive, but I don't really think that's feminine like some people do.
But if we're talking stereotypes anyway, I am pretty gross and lazy so there's that.
I don't know, I just don't really care either way. I sometimes giggle when someone calls me girly, and I sometimes feel a dumb male pride when someone describes me as masculine. Fluidity's a cool thing.

I work so much with my hands, I don't even paint my fingernails. I don't even really have fingernails anymore because they keep breaking and chipping off. It would just be a waste for me to do anything with them.

you don't have to get them painted just get them clipped, filed and have your cuticles taken care of it.

Maybe a clear coat if you are feeling adventurous
