I do this obsessively, since as long as I can remember. It started with just my nails, but if you pick your nails frantically enough you end up "stabbing" the skin around them which leads to dead skin that has to get compulsively removed. My fingers are pretty disgusting, and nothing is worse than working a food service job where you fingers may bleed because you've literally ripped off a large portion of the nail.

I fidget constantly. It adds a added stresser to job interviews when things as basic as a handshake become more complicated because I must hope they don't look at my hands and make an immediate first impression.

I've had multiple exes call my fingers "booty-digger" nails which is unfortunate . I wash my hands as obsessively as anything else so im probably actually more hygienic than many.

We've had our fair share of those 5-times-in-one-day types of deals. It gets pretty difficult to keep going around the fourth or fifth time, tbh. Those days were much earlier in our relationship when we were just going at it every chance we got.

Same, I've done it since I was a kid. My fingertips look pretty horrid tbh, I usually peel the skin off the very top so my fingertips are sometimes bright red and really tender. I also have those little hard callous bits of skin around my fingers (mainly my thumbs) and those are an absolute pleasure to pick. I fidget a lot aswell but dunno if that's related to my finger munching. I never really bother what my hands look like until I paint my nails etc, because people then ask to see my nails and aren't quite sure what to say. Most people just constantly ask me if I'm hungry which is annoying. Do you do it more when you're nervous etc? I've found I do it more when I'm stressed, nervous, anything along those lines really.
