I went pick up some JWB today because, as much as I've heard about it, I've never tried it. (I was never much more than a beer person... until now)

WOW. I like this WAY more than Glenfiddich. It has a really nice smoky wood flavor. With 2 ice cubes, it still tastes great and balances out the harsher alcohol kick. I think I have a new favorite. And it's cheaper than the single malts.

How does the Macallan 30 compare to JWB?

idk if you have tried the Green Label Jack Daniels but far superior than the black label one that everyone likes to drink with coke.

I don't like bourbon or Tennessee whiskey.

Ahh okay. I just tried out bourbon for the first time and I don't mind it.

I may move onto Gin next and I have taking a strong liking to cognacs.

Most of that stuff is too "syrupy" for me. And I don't like clear alcohol at all by itself. I don't mind Gin and tonic with some lime if it's high quality Gin, but straight? Nah.

Yeah I noticed you mentioned earlier that you don't like sweeter stuff as well and that's like my weakness when I get mix drinks or when I chase stuff. Clear alcohol is good for mixing with other juices.

I've historically had an aversion to mixed drinks because I tend to drink a lot and I'd prefer not downing all that mixer. Gin + tonics were always ok because the mixer is light, but it was always more trouble than it was worth, for me.

Now that I've discovered my taste for scotch, it works out well for me because I can just drink it straight. I've never been able to do that with other whiskey or any clears. I think I can finally cut down my beer intake with JWB particularly, because it has more flavor than the Glenfiddich and what I've been doing is just buying like a 6 pack of good beer and having a couple scotches, then following with a beer. Rinse, repeat. It really helps to spread things out for me.

I did that last night and this morning when I woke up, I felt SO MUCH BETTER than I normally would. Because to achieve the level of buzz I'm used to, I normally have to drink about 16 high powered beers. Last night I drank 6 beers and like 4 very small glasses of scotch and I was good the whole night. It's quite honestly a godsend.

That is the precise instruction I give to the bartender whenever I order it.

To be honest, It's been so long since I've had Macallan's that I wouldn't really be able to tell you anything other than it's delicious.

However I have a boxed bottle of JWB sitting on my end table. It makes for a great headphone stand.

I only read the title.

This is a terrible idea.
