Default Need Manchester Advice

It looks like I'm going to be spending a Saturday night in Manchester UK in a few weeks and was looking for some advice. What's a good part of the city spend the evening walking around and hanging out in? I'm looking for an area with some cool bars, some late night restaurants maybe some live music, that kind of thing. Preferably somewhere not too far from hotels either. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Northern quarter is probably the best place. Lots of pubs and good restaurants without being too club infested. And its not too far from the heavier nightlife on Oxford road, ten mins taxi from manchester academy if there's a decent gig on. I'm around the area too if you need a guide. Obviously right-track too.

My boyfriend just got relocated to the ****hole known as Warrington, but he's going to be living in Didsbury. I'm planning to visit in July. Pretty psyched actually, I have avoided visiting the UK since I found out a tube ride in London costs like $8. F that.

But that was a very long time ago. I'm richer now. I, too, seek tips.

Basically this. I always get off at the Oxford Road station if I am going to Manchester. To the left you have the "art house" cinema, Cornerhouse , and to the right there's a few bars I like (such as Font).

But I have started looking into this list right here:

Best Bars In Manchester

Most of these places are pretty east to find and are really good from my experience.

Stay away from the Deansgate and Printworks areas.
Northern Quarter, Oxford Road are far safer and more laid back like already mentioned.
Goofle's link is as good as there is.
Welcome to Manc.

Just wear black and not anything red or blue, you should be safe then!

Nowhere else in the uk is anywhere near as extortionate as the London area. 3 quid up north for ANYTHING turns into double that for the same thing in london. Its absolutely ridiculous.

Also I can second font bar, its a nice place. Thirsty Scholar and grand central is right next door too, for more traditional pub atmosphere.

Bitches love scars.
