i know alot of ppl like them but there is not alot of talk about them and i don't bring them up cause they feel played out, idk why but i assume either ppl already know them and are sick of them already or they are simply not interested in them because i don't see them bringing them up, ya know?

I have to admit though, my knowledge in music is pretty limited i like alot of bands by individual songs but i don't seek out all their cds cause i don't like them THAT much, i only know the history of the bands i REALLY like, others i don't know enough to get into a serious discussion about them.

I feel like I've seen people talk about Deerhoof and Of Montreal on here recently. Guided By Voices, The Misfits and Sonic Youth have had a lot of discussion on here over the years. And I'm a pretty big They Might Be Giants fan. :)

LOL Fair enough with this. I actually found one of my old posts of mine bitching about similar things. Check it out. It's from close to 3 months ago.

35% = contribute to classic, prog, and psych rock

10% = contribute to everything else

That's ****ed up. We need more varied discussion than just metal everyday!

I've noticed how popular the prog. album club is, and we need something like that for some of the other areas of the site, like an electronic album club or something!

I of course, basically talk almost entirely about metal nowadays. lol funny how things change.
But, as Janszoon replied to me...

J-Zoon is right. A year ago, or a couple years ago or whatever, the metal community was godlike. Metal Wars was one of, if not the most happenin' non-funny-pictures-of-cats threads on the whole forum. Then that thread wound down, some members dropped off, and it was dead until a little while ago. Now it's... better, but I think until Metal Wars gets back to its former glory "the scene" is still not gonna be what it was.

Now, the majority of users seem to lean towards AOR and dad rock. Too much discussion about early prog rock, the big four of metal and other uncool bands.
Y'all sounding like you're 40 and wearing 20 year old band shirts to keep up with the kids.
Plus there's been an alarming rise in dumb pop fanatics. Seriously guys, Iggy Azaela? She's whiter than this post.

Where's all the cool music at? Have you got less cool over the last three years.
Discuss.

Spoiler: I think you have.

OK that might be true, but I think people should talk about what interest them. Problem solved.

Now the most uncool thing I ever saw which was personal and non-music related was some guy just started going after Mondo in plug insulting and berating him. I forget his name... its what's-his-face... you should know who I am talking about he acts like a total dillweed.

This so much. It seems like every six months or so a thread like this is made. Usually by Manky or Big3.

Most of the music discussion is just concentrated in certain places that's all.

There is always Pitchfork if you need to stay on top of new indie releases.

Aren't you on hiatus? Your fork in the road dilemma didn't last long.

I don't know, I think lying about hardships is probably more uncool than being called out on doing so.

lol the key thing to remember here is Manky is lame as fuck, and has really poor taste in music to begin with. having sex with slags does not make you the arbiter of cool, whining about dad rock on a garishly outdated music forum isn't helping your case either.

You rock.

Cicatrice 06-09-2014 10:28 AM

Eh, I can't speak about the history of the forum, but I have come to realize in my short time here:

1. This is a big music forum, someone else here likes 99.9% of the bands you like.
2. If you post about a band and attempt to start a conversation, generally, conversation will follow.
3. The forum can be a bit slow at times; but there's nothing "uncool" about that.

I've enjoyed my experience here, and I've found numerous bands in my short time here. Which, by the way, isn't simply limited to old man music, I've certainly found some new bands, too. Between the Albums You're Digging thread and Plug alone I find new music pretty regularly. So no complaints from me, but then again, I love "dad rock" and metal so maybe I'm just at home here.
