To skin or not to skin?

So I have naturally thin hair, and I have always looked as though I am thinning on top, but over the past year or so it seems as though I am actually balding. Do I keep my hair relatively long and wait till it's obviously just out of control, or do I embrace it and shave my head?

I kind of like how much easier my life would be if I just had a skin head, but I'm not sure I would suit it at all. As mentioned earlier, my hair is thin, meaning the surviving hairs wouldn't do much to cover my scalp.

I have actually shaved it twice before, and I didn't completely hate it in terms of the head itself, but I was in a far less confident place than I am right now. I've lost weight and have much clearer skin, so maybe I could pull it off a little more?

I dunno. I guess I am just going to keep my hair pretty long (for me at least) and shave it off when it becomes embarrassing.

Sansa Stark 06-25-2014 11:51 AM

Nah take some supplements

Goofle 06-25-2014 11:58 AM

I wanna stay pure for the hair gods.

Plankton 06-25-2014 12:02 PM

What would Ade do?

Cuthbert 06-25-2014 12:04 PM

The only thing you can do is shave your head. The one and only long term solution is to accept it and learn to work with it. It's just hair at the end of the day.

If you're going to do it, grow some facial hair as a shaved head with no stubble looks silly imo.

Goofle 06-25-2014 12:07 PM

Yeah, luckily I can actually grow facial hair now unlike the first few times I tried, though not on my lip (hair gods, curse you to hell). I dunno.

Janszoon 06-25-2014 12:09 PM

You have the rest of your life to be bald. Enjoy the hair while you still have a little left to enjoy.

Scarlett O'Hara 06-25-2014 12:23 PM

Take it off! Take it off!

Your shirt I mean. ;) Like Jans said, keep it while you can.

Goofle 06-25-2014 12:31 PM

Yeah, suppose that's the way to go. Then supplements.

bob. 06-25-2014 12:31 PM

Trust me...keep it for as long as you can

The Batlord 06-25-2014 12:34 PM

It's not just looking good bald that you need to be concerned with, not everyone can pull off combat boots and suspenders.

GuD 06-25-2014 12:36 PM

Oi Oi Oi!!!

The Batlord 06-25-2014 12:37 PM

GuD 06-25-2014 12:39 PM

Ugh, **** like that gives skinheads a bad name. Used to be just working class youths into reggae and ska but then the whole white power thing and... just, ugh.

Have you not seen This is England?

GuD 06-25-2014 12:42 PM

on topic-

Goofs, I'm with everyone else. Keep the hair dude.

Sansa Stark 06-25-2014 12:43 PM

There are like four different kinds of skinheads tho

The Batlord 06-25-2014 12:46 PM

Is there actually any point to be a skinhead if you're not a racist though? I mean I know it's a working class pride kind of thing or whatever, but seriously, what's the point?

GuD 06-25-2014 12:48 PM

Goofs, you could probably rock a suedehead kinda look.

Music actually. It's just another subculture like metal heads or punks.

WWWP 06-25-2014 01:06 PM

You'll be gorgeous no matter what.

Cuthbert 06-25-2014 01:09 PM

What supplements are people talking about? Minoxidil & Finasteride?

The Batlord 06-25-2014 01:11 PM

But just make sure you don't turn into this...

Snake oil, primarily.

I say keep it for as long as you can as well, that's what I plan on doing.

that'll work for you. A lot of times you might find
stylists who like certain styles, but they'd look like
crap on you if they didn't actually really look at your
facial features to come to that decision. It's amazing
how many get trained in the "latest" styles and try
plopping that on your head without consideration.
Tho, I'm with the camp that says keep your hair for
as long as you can, the problem with longer hair is
that the weight of it will actually emphasize your
balding areas. In the end, there'll come a time when
you don't want to mess with it and you'll cut it off.

That's the problem, my hair is really thin and I cannot style it at all. It simply has to be dry and combed. Any moisture or movement in the wrong direction leaves me looking as though I have even less hair than I do.

I'm not at a dangerous stage yet, that's probably a few years away, but being bald would make my life so much easier due to the pain in the ass that has always been my hair (even before it started thinning).

:D

Sounds like you should just get rid. If you can't style it and you're at that stage already then yeah.

Better than walking round with a patchy head.

Goofle 06-25-2014 01:59 PM

I don't need to change my style or anything, and I only look thin under certain light. But I've certainly noticed it getting a little thinner.

Isbjørn 06-25-2014 02:02 PM

Then just keep it and see how it goes. If it gets even more thin, skin it.

Goofle 06-25-2014 02:08 PM

I guess the reason I ask is because I kinda want to do it. But due to the crappy nature of my hair, if I didn't like it, I would essentially be looking bald for about three or four months till it gets back to where I am now (always been the case for me).

Cuthbert 06-25-2014 02:31 PM

Depends how much you care about your hair tbh. Was never much of an issue for me cos I've always had a fade/very short on top plus use clippers anyway.

Not having to do anything to your hair ftw >>>

Well... Take off your shirt. This is to prevent getting it full of hair. Take some shirtless photos for Vanilla while you're at it. Go into the bathroom, and take a plastic bag in with you. Find an electrical shaver, or even better, an adjustable beard trimmer. Start shavin'. When you're done, try to pick up most of the hair, and put it in the bag. Don't worry if there's some small hairs left in the sink, just flush them down with some water. Check if there's any hair on the floor, and do some sweeping if necessary. Throw the bag in the dustbin. Put the shirt back on (or not) and upload a photo of your newly-skinned self to the Member Picture Gallery. Receive positive comments from female members, degrading comments from batlords, and hilarious comments from me to boost your self-esteem. Congratulations, you've successfully skinned your head. :)

Cuthbert 06-25-2014 03:25 PM

:d

Isbjørn 06-25-2014 03:30 PM

I've neither skinned my hair nor uploaded a photo to the Gallery before, so take my directions with a grain of salt.

Cuthbert 06-25-2014 03:32 PM

I clocked when you said to put the shirt back on without taking a shower first.

djchameleon 06-25-2014 03:53 PM

Shave it!

Don't hang on to a thinning mess like you are hanging on to the glory years.

Spot on

Goofle 06-25-2014 03:58 PM

I'll shave my balls as a tester.

Is that hair thinning too?

Goofle 06-25-2014 04:44 PM

Gods honest? Yes. I can only dry and comb them.

RoxyRollah 06-25-2014 04:47 PM

****in A! Dude just do it.

Become one with the cueball. Listen men that are bald are more respected. So the surveys say.

I love a cueball.... yessir I do....
