Link? I'm not sure I believe that since the nails in the feet are working against gravity and skin is pretty damn strong. The hooks they use to suspend people from the skin their backs hold ~150lb each.

No it was definitely in the wrist/forearm. Not only was the placement more durable but it allowed for the arms to be spread and pinned in such a way that asphyxiation was a more likely cause of death than bleeding out to maximize suffering.
