im sure im not the only person to think this. what has happened to musicbanter. its lost all relevance and nothing interests me anymore. no member (no offence) really catches my attention nor do i look for anybodies posts anymore. ive lost all motivation for this place and i feel as if mindless, consumer whore, ignorant, media-loving fools are just drowning the site of all its good points. basically, im leaving and im saying my goodbyes to the people who actually matter and i hope it improves soon. maybe i'll return when it does.

the threads have been weak lately, and alot of the ppl here i dont recognize either. if everyone who complains about the quality of posts would just make better quality threads, then this problem wouldnt be as bad as it is. Hell most threads are started by newbies, some of which are pretty cool to chat with, others not so much. So standing around complaining about the site isnt helping matters at all, instead it just brings up more wasted space. I say to anyone who is sick of it, either make an effort to
1. avoid responding to pointless threads
2. make a thread about something interesting
3. stop the bitching
or leave. really, its not that difficult. Id rather see a bunch of users having fun with whatever they feel they want to talk about, then have a bunch of ppl complaining and not taking an initiative to do anything about it. Dont like Green Day? dont post in a green day thread. Upset there isnt talk about the latest Indie band from Yugoslavia? then make a thread about it.

I feel ya'. I'm glad I'm not the only one who's noticed. I hope your only taking a short break. Unfortunately its always the intelligient ones who make this place bearable that leave.

my point was instead of going into each thread and complaining about the contents of it (or lack of) just post in what interests you, if there arent any, then make one.

yeah yeah i got that.....i dunno...i was never really the one to recommend new music so it's not my fault the musical conversations are a bit stale these days...but i think we've gone through something like this a while ago no? and i'm still quite happy to talk to newbies about bands i like...
i dunno...i'm really quite satisfied talking about anything really...weather it's realted to music or not....i'm quite shallow in that way...:)
i've tried talking about the faint and aqueduct ryan adams maybe....few were interested....and i guess there's only so much you can say....

Too many members bring their A-game to the Lounge. I complained about this with a great deal of drama, ended up having everyone hate me, and then got made a mod a week later. Just goes to show that... I dunno where I'm going with this. Although i admit my reign of terror isn't quite as frightening as I hoped.

There are also too many newbs who's primary focus is post whoring in the Lounge. If 95% of your posts belong to the Lounge in a Music forum, that is pretty sad. Not the cute kind of sad.

Basically when all the attention is going to newbs, girl catfights, and popular post whores, the members that actually give a f*ck about music will inevitably feel unrespected, which is why you are seeing that a large majority of "good" posters have left or are fading away.

But as far as I can remember, people have always complained about musicbanter, about something or other. It's our nature to complain. But you have to realize, if the postwhores don't have anyone paying attention to them, they'll go away. Remember that Simpsons Halloween episode with the attacking billboard ads? Yeah, and that song Paul Anka sang. It's just like that. "Just don't look, just don't look. dee dee dee dee"
