The first comp I can vividly remember was a Gateway with Win95 + Chips Challenge. I remember having computers before that, just don't have the slightest idea what they were.

For right now, it's good, but i'm finding that i'm running out of space pretty quick. I tend to use external drives. I have a 1tb external that stores all my music, but unfortunately that's almost full so I may invest in a second one. My hard drive in my PC is also 1tb and that's about half full, probably from all the games I buy from Steam and other sources. At least it's being put to good use, but I can definitely see myself needing more space in the near future.

Trollheart, I'd love to jive with you about archival storage. I'm making due with a 3TB primary disk, a mirrored and remotely-stored external backup, and an additional encrypted mirror on the cloud.

This is all well and good for the present, but this archive ain't gettin' any smaller and I want to have a plan!

Yeah it's externals for me too. I have a 1 tb internal, then a 1.5 tb external, 2 2tb ext, and two 4tb ext. I had another 2tb but it died and I'm currently using hardware to salvage the data from it. Oh for the days when we thought a gigabyte drive would be all we ever needed!

Sure, but I find cloud storage useless for larger files like videos and some music, as it takes forever to get it uploaded and then of course you have to stay with that provider or you lose all your data (cough) Livedrive (cough) I just keep buying external drives, some of which are just hooked up to put the data on, then removed and stored, never used unless needed. Let me tell ya man, the days of storing on DVDs are over!

You lose. Why would you think I would not know what he's talking about??
3tb primary disk = well, a primary hard disk with 3 tb storage
mirrored and remotely-stored external backup = all data copies and stored in a location away from the computer, probably outside the house, maybe even city
additional encrypted mirror on the cloud = all data stored in a coded format which he has somehow managed to climb into the sky and balance on a cloud... You owe me twenty dollars
