Favourite superhero

Third time lucky! I hope...

Trollheart 05-27-2015 05:44 PM

OK, now the poll won't allow me to edit it. Hay-soos Christos! :yikes:
Just post your favourites for now, I'll add them up. If a mod can sort my poll that would be great; I have about another twenty to go onto it but when I took so long adding them it told me I had run out of time to post the poll!

Where's Spiderman when you need him?

Oriphiel 05-27-2015 05:45 PM

I hope you get the polls working.

Gonna have to go with Spider-Man. I'm on issue 40 with Ultimate Spider-Man and it's so goddamn good. I'm so addicted to it.

Janszoon 05-27-2015 06:31 PM

Super Amazing Bathulk for me.

DwnWthVwls 05-27-2015 06:40 PM

Is the Hulk considered a super hero?

I'd say yes. Kind of an anti-hero at times, but still pretty super.

Trollheart 05-27-2015 07:10 PM

Hulk is definitely a hero.
I guess we'll have to ignore the poll unless someone can add choices to it for me?
Anyway, let's see where it goes.

DwnWthVwls 05-27-2015 07:16 PM

I voted Hulk because I don't care much for the other 2, and he's cooler than Spiderman. I don't know much about any of the characters but I've always been a fan of X-men, with Jean Grae, Prof. X, and Nightcrawler as my favorites.

Carpe Mortem 05-27-2015 07:20 PM

Millionaire brooding in a sweet man cave filled with doodads? Yeah I go Batman here.

But Deadpool speaks to my chaotic neutral soul.

Batman was probably my first true love

This right here. And his personality was basically written to appeal to me. I was Deadpool before Deadpool even existed.

****ing hipster.

YorkeDaddy 05-27-2015 07:45 PM

Deadpool's a cool mo-fo in his own right but doesn't quite exemplify everything I appreciate in a superhero...so in other words he's not Batman enough

I liked Storm. Wolverine is kinda cool too but Storm is my forever fav.

Tell what you want added and I can edit the poll for you.

The Batlord 05-27-2015 08:15 PM

Well he clearly missed Wolverine, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Green Lantern, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and while Deadpool may not be a superhero per so, he's too popular to be ignored.

Pet_Sounds 05-27-2015 08:32 PM

Superman and Green Lantern ain't got nothin' on Batman.

The Batlord 05-27-2015 08:54 PM

But they're objectively still worth being on the poll.

Of course. I'm just stating my personal choice with a little help from Donovan.

Psy-Fi 05-27-2015 09:01 PM

I think supervillains are far more interesting.

Yeah but the Joker would probably win that poll by a landslide

GuD 05-27-2015 09:15 PM

I wonder if that would sill be the case were it not for the success of the Dark Knight. I think his portrayal in that movie has done a pretty great job of making him an icon.

Perhaps, although a LOT of people have watched Batman: TAS and most of the best episodes of that show are the Joker episodes

This. Those two, along with the first Batman from the eighties, pretty much cemented the Joker as the comic book villain.

Ninetales 05-27-2015 09:57 PM

if I ignore the shit tier ending I thought bane was far more interesting than the joker in the new batman films

I didn't mind the ending, what I disliked the most about TDKR was the lame twist they threw in near the end where it turned out Bane was just a puppet for the hot chick, like come onnnnnn Nolan

Ninetales 05-27-2015 10:05 PM

yeah that's what I was referring to. turned him into a babysitter for no reason

tho really bane should've won anyway if it weren't for some serious deus ex machina goin on for the bat

YorkeDaddy 05-27-2015 10:12 PM

Oh by "the ending" I thought you meant the whole "Bruce is actually alive and well in Europe" stuff, I thought that was fine

Ninetales 05-27-2015 10:16 PM

ha I forgot about that. not really big on superhero movies in general tbh

The Lone Ranger and Tonto

I am not an avid fan of comics, and know little about them. I have only seen a few episodes of The Lone Ranger, so my choice based more on the concept his character than familiarity of the books, TV series, or movie.

I don't know if he is properly counted in as a super-hero, since he has no super-human powers. However (imo) not having them adds verisimilitude to his story, where other super-heroes tend to lean towards fantasy. Not have extraordinary other than makes him more down to Earth hero. His marksmanship could be consider almost superhuman, but there are examples in history like Annie Oakley who was extremely talented.

The Lone Ranger is also not part of the Marvel/DC comical universe, so that's another reason he probably be overlooked as a superhero per-se. But even so there are some similarities, he is a masked man who operates around (not with, or against) law enforcement. A vigilante who brings criminals to justice without killing them in the process. He has a friend (side-kick) that helps him narrowly escape perils. He has a back-story that involves a death of a family member (think Superman, Batman, and Spider-man) that profoundly changes the course of his life, and effects him. He has a calling card, in his case a silver bullet, that people identify with. He has a sense of right & wrong, a respect for life while exacting justice, and yet despite having those good qualities is, in a way, marginalized from society.

The Batlord 05-28-2015 01:15 AM

Thanks Jansz! There are a lot, be warned! I need:
Wolverine, Cyclops, Captain America, Silver Surfer, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Thor (forget if he's there already), The Thing, Mister Fantastic, Invisible Girl, Human Torch, Deadpool, Green Arrow, Hawkeye, Robin, Spawn, Daredevil, Ghost Rider and Namor the Sub-Mariner. And any anyone else thinks I should have and missed.

Appreciate it mightily!
Excelsior! :)

No, he isn't. Next we'll have Roy friggin' Rogers! Cowboys are not Superheroes (except maybe Ghost Rider). Also...

Who gives a **** about Namor? Aquaman is far bigger, and people still don't give all that much of a **** about him. And you forgot the Flash again.

With three notably rare exceptions.
