I already posted the one I want to use, but you can put me in line where ever I fit.

I can't think of many that can rival shit like the Grand Canyon. There is some good outdoorsy type stuff I guess, but I kinda feel like once you've seen one bit you've seen it all. Same all over GB. I can think of some decent buildings though.

I've got a belter but it's not in the UK. I am excited to see what PS posts.

It doesn't have to be. I posted the Eiffel Towere remember? You can post any landmark, even an American one if you want (Mount Rushmore anyone?)

The Blue Hole of Belize

What's inside?

Gutted, I was gonna post the Great Blue Hole :(

Should have read the thread. Got another decent one from Belize though

Agree 100% with Unknown Soldier's posts too.

Pet_Sounds 06-05-2015 05:57 AM

Actually, TH, you'd better take me off the list and/or skip me temporarily. I'll be offline for the next couple days.

Cuthbert 06-05-2015 06:05 AM

If you're offline can you post your UK landmark now :D?

Want to see what it is.

Sure m8.

It's a bit obvious, but…

This will get my vote in ANY landmark battle. It's one of the most fascinating places on earth, IMO.

Unknown Soldier 06-05-2015 06:13 AM

These landmarks really need to be in two cats, man-made or more natural formations.

Which category would you put Stonehenge in? :D

I'm going to Belize next year. Started saving in January for a week package for the daughter and myself. I'm definitely doing the snorkeling tour.

Decent that, definitely one of the first things you'd pick in the UK and rightly so.

The one I was going to post for the UK, was either the Royal Crescent in Bath, or the Great Bath.

Well in Doctor Who they were man made and probably from cardboard.

So, are we on to the next round? Voting seems to have stopped. I've got mine all lined up and ready to go.

Awesome... enjoy.

Trollheart 06-05-2015 10:16 AM

I think we're still tied. As the winner takes on the new challenger I can't declare a draw so we need another vote for one or the other...

Canyon - 6

Canyon for sure. The wall's kind of cool but it doesn't have any majesty about it.

Canyon - 1
Great Wall - 0

snopes.com: Can You See the Great Wall of China from the Moon?

Goddamnit logic and evidence, that was such an interesting factoid.

Not with the naked eye, unlike the Grand Canyon.

Grand Canyon - 2
Great Wall - 1

Hey nothing's gonna beat the Canyon, but no majesty? Are you f*cking kidding me?

Frownland 06-05-2015 03:13 PM

I see majesty in the mountains but the wall is just a little line on them. Maybe if they were more ornate I'd think otherwise.

Another childhood story destroyed, courtesy of Frownland. Next you'll be telling me there's no Santa Claus! :(

Frownland 06-05-2015 03:26 PM

Nah he exists, but he doesn't actually eat the cookies you leave out for him, that's all hogwash. And he only gives gifts to Christians, the rest of the kids who get presents are getting them from their parents posturing like they're normal human beings.

Well, is was constructed mostly to be functional but I still think it's cool architecture.

Canyon - 3
Wall - 1

Frownland 06-05-2015 05:34 PM

It is nice looking, it's just that all it has for me is the length. (Kiekiekierkierkier)

fiddler 06-05-2015 05:52 PM

Still going with Canyon because f*ck the Chinese. ;)

Trollheart 06-06-2015 03:44 AM

Canyon 3
Great Wall 1

Can anyone beat The Big Crack in the Desert at this point? (Cue Batty with smutty remark..)

Lisnaholic 06-11-2015 06:08 AM

The Grand Canyon and the Great Wall of China are probably the two places on earth that I'd most like to visit, so it's difficult for me to vote. As others have mentioned, in terms of absolute spectacularosity, the Canyon is almost impossible to defeat, so for the sake of the game I would second this suggestion:-

... that way I could vote for both. In the meantime, despite Chula's beautiful photos of the Wall, I have to reluctantly go with the Canyon again:-
Canyon : 4
Great Wall : 1

(PS: I'd like to sign up too, if that's ok Trollheart.)

Janszoon 06-11-2015 09:28 AM

Can I sign up too?

EPOCH6 06-11-2015 09:54 AM

Canyon : 5
Great Wall : 1

This thread is getting kind of ridiculous lol, is there really anything on Earth that trumps the GC?

Frownland 06-11-2015 09:59 AM

I might have something in mind for my next one that'll blow your mind.

We can probably call this one now.

I'm not inclined to go with that idea, but if everyone wants it, then sure. Not quite certain how it would work though, if someone wants to explain it to me?

Well that's the beauty of landmarks isn't it? Could the Taj Mahal trump it? Sydney Opera House? Ayers Rock? The Great Barrier Reef?

But yeah, once again the Grand Canyon takes it. USA 2 China 0. Who's next? ;)

DwnWthVwls 06-11-2015 02:35 PM

It's Pet Sounds then me.. Idk whos after that.

If Monkey wanted in with his "#in" post, then it's PS, Monkey, Me, whoever else.

No it isn't. I put Jaszoon in since he had contributed, so he's next, then you, then Pet_Sounds. Read the list in the OP.

^ Thanks,TH; that's very democratic of you! The simplest way to go might be to open up another thread on man-made, and leave the Grand Canyon to rule the roost here, possibly adding "natural" to the thread name.

However, I'm sure everyone has overdosed recently on rule changes and consensus-of-opinion votes, so if no-one else picks up on this idea, we can just let it die quietly - I really can' t face another drawn out policy discussion, and I suspect that you feel the same. :)
