And those two statements aren't contradictory either. He hates you and he hates what you love, nothing contradictory about that.

They are: He said "I've never NOT thought Trekkies were uber cool", which means he always has thought they were uber cool, then goes on to say he doesn't see the appeal of Star Trek.
