It was a great game though, I was on the edge of my seat and losing my shit at the television... all of my housemates barrack for one particular team in the grand final so I hope they win otherwise I'll be dealing with a lot of bad mooded guys. |
It's because I left Australia...lol... man, I gotta get back some time soon...

Still feeling quakes, but happy as i'm about to move in with my fiance:thumb:

I was able to kind of keep up with Aussie Rules this year, off and on, thanks to an hour-long weekly highlights show on Eurosport but thats about it. ESPN carry the rights to the live games and I dont have that. |
I wish ESPN still showed AFL games in the US... I miss it.

You completely sure that theres no coverage anywhere? I didn't realise that Eurosport were running the highlights show. It took me a long time to notice.
I'm sure that a few seasons back, it wasn't on TV at all. Or at the very least, the coverage was nowhere near as good or as reliable as it is now. Unfortunately though, I have Sky Sports which is not cheap at all and a few years ago a further subscription-based sports channel launched to rival Sky Sports and they bought the AFL games. Then when they folded, ESPN started up and they have the rights to it as well. I would love ESPN but if i got every subscription channel I wanted, the bills would be disgusting. |
Wow, I'm surprised that it even gets coverage anywhere else in the world! Are people really that interested in Aussie Rules? I guess Australians travel a lot and there are a lot of Australians abroad, more specifically there are a lot of Australians in the UK, so I guess it makes sense.
Do you barrack for a certain team Mojo? Or just enjoy watching it? I was in New Zealand last year for the Grand Final and it wasn't televised there on free to air TV I don't think, but loads of people watched it on cable and pretty much everyone knew the result/ kept up with it. Which surprised me, I thought it was a purely Aussie-centric thing! |
It's not a popular sport here no, and the quality of the coverage does change, often from year to year. I think the fact that there are a lot of Aussies here and also the connection the AFL has with Irish Gaelic football probably warrants the coverage.
My family out there are Demons fans so I find myself one too. I watched a lot of AFL when i was there, went to a couple of games and I found myself more drawn to the Demons. I brought a jersey back and a season review on video. I really do keep meaning to follow it more than i do but i would probably need to get ESPN to do that. |
Today's my first day back at school in about three years. I'm a little nervous, but mostly just tired and grumpy/not wanting to deal with it.
Hence, I will be getting coffee on my way to the train. |
