I actually had a conversation with a girl I really liked for... over a year now.
Turns out it's mutual. But she has a boyfriend and he's a really nice guy. Don't want to ruin anything there. So I won't. And I'm fine with that.
Since my relationship ended in 2009, I wasn't sure if any other girl would be interested in me anytime soon. So this really is a big ego boost for me :) :).

So if a girl liked you and you liked her, but she had a boyfriend, you would keep away? Even if she tried to make a pass at you? The reason I ask is because I'm in a similar situation... ha.

Depends on whether I think the boyfriend's right for her. I know I shouldn't be the one to decide, but thats the way it works for me.
This guy is just fantastic. There's no way you can dislike him.
And altough she's incredible, she really is, I think it would be a pretty selfish thing of me to mess around with her when she's happy with her boyfriend. I'm not sure if she'll be happy with me in the long term and I think that guy deserves her just as much as I do.

The only thing I must add is that I'm the one to decide how far I go with her.
I don't mind her lying in bed with me or hugging me. And I don't care if he's allright with that. I just won't have sex with her. Which, and I know, I've been in this situation before, is incredibly hard. But because I respect her so much, I think I can be strong.

Edit: I don't think she'll make a pass on me, I do think things can 'happen', even altough neither of you really 'starts' something. That's the time to be strong :)

Un****in' beliveable!
I just got the bus back from town and at the depot in the next but one village to where I live the driver's change over. The new driver got on and as we set off I noticed a bit of a chill had suddenly hit me. Then it dawned on me that the driver had his window open thereby blasting the bus with freezing wind. As I got off, which was near the terminus so there was only me and another guy on at that point, I said 'you're freezing the bus out with that window open.' The driver said 'i've got to stop myself from sweating!' (he seemed to be wearing about 3 sweatshirts btw). So I said 'if i was getting on when you turn round and were going back to Doncaster I wouldn't put up with it.' Then unbelievably he said 'So you'd rather I fall asleep?'. The implication being in the intense sweltering heat he'd faint!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have rarely been so gobsmacked!!!

I can't wait until Christmas... I'll be spending it at the beach with family like last year.

But I have another reason to look forward to it. For uni, a couple of people in my class and I wrote a building sketch program where you draw a 2D sketch on the left and it generates a 3D model on the right (as in the attached pic). The lecturer thought our algorithm for model generation was quite novel so he asked us to write up a paper which he submitted to a computer graphics conference in Portugal. If it gets accepted, I doubt we'll get free flights over but it'll be awesome nonetheless. And if it doesn't get accepted... well, at least we tried. We'll be hearing back from them within 5 days :tramp:

In English we had to take the survey (mostly about if you ever got stoned or drunk or if you knew anyone that got stoned or drunk), and I got bored so I checked out the music page of the school website, which include little bios of the teachers.

Found out my orchestra/viola teacher played for the 2000-2001 of Philip Glass's "In the Penal Glass."

....HE MET PHILIP GLASS.

THAT LUCKY BASTARD.

That's excellent! Judging by the picture, I'm guessing it takes the 2D image and extends it symmetrically for 3D?

Yeah, that's basically how it works. It takes the 2D image, extrudes it along the x and z axes and produces the intersection of the two extrusions. So ideally, the building ends up looking like the sketch from all sides, which is realistic for most skyscraper type buildings.

Wha?

And spending Christmas at the beach is still something that really befuddles me.

Congratulations on the first class honours btw.
