They still have those in Japan. I've been trying to quit, but every time I'm in Narita I have to take advantage.

You can smoke at Washington Dulles in several "boxes" which also happen to be bars. I think you may be able to in Orlando as well. I know there are others but can't remember which ones. There's no reason that every airport shouldn't have a smoking area. You'd think that the Land of the Free and Home of the Brave would be a little more free and brave, eh?

I'm pretty sure there are places to smoke in the Atlanta airport too.

I put in my 2 week notice at the gas station recently, and just packed up my crap into a trailer me and my buddy built, attached to truck, and headed north up Hwy 5 from Sacramento CA area to Eugene OR.

Two things:

I'm a mobile transient now.
As of last night I live in Eugene, OR now, and it looks exciting.

Worst thing, though, my driver's license expired on the 12th, and I went to renew it and had it sent to my folks house, but I still don't have it so I'm worried I won't be able to go to the bars. My buddy can still buy us beer, sure... but I want to go see all the pretty ladies, not pound beers in the Walmart parking lot with my male friend.

So I've got some orienting to do. It's a pretty big town (45 sq. miles, pop. 155,000). I've got to go to the post office somewhere and set up a PO box so moms can send me my drinking card (ID). I need to start putting in applications for work and figuring out how to do that without giving them a local address.

Right now, it's 4:20. I'm burning a bowl with my buddy behind the Mcdonald's here (free wifi), and then despite the ominous rainclouds I'm probably going to ride around before it gets dark on bicycle.

Had a decent chicken burrito from a Mexican meat market/laptop repair for 4.50
Nothing like the ones back in Northern California, but it was still worth the price I paid.

Very excited, don't know what to do. Got 550 dollars to last me and my buddy until we find work and get paid. We've got a bunch of nonperishable foods in the back to stretch our budget. Lots to do. The lack of a sales tax kicks ass, by the way. That's supremely helpful. I'm not used to it, but love it already.

edit: I must be better at my job than first anticipated.

You're good. If I'm ever bleedin' all over, I'd want you there, wasted or no.

today, it snowed, and in a bold moment of canadian bravery, I went in -5C weather for a 2km walk. Usually 2km is easy for me (it's easy for anybody, really), but I was up to my ankles in wet slushy snow and my boots weren't exactly waterproof and were practically slippers. it was basically snowing sideways out and all of the hats and mittens and scarves I was wearing were soaked in an instant. And then I approached a road without a sidewalk and got splashed in salty slush by every passing car. This one car purposely sped up and splashed me so I gave him the finger, even though you really can't give somebody the finger through two sets of mittens.

when I got home, I was soaked, chilled and probably very close to being hypothermic. I changed into some new clothes and then shivered and slept for about four hours.

Just got home from NYC. Saw C.O.C and Danzig last night. Great show, but the weather sucked so badly.
