"Squid" is cockney rhyming sland for "quid". I'm from London and I don't think I've ever heard it used instead of "quid" in conversation here! It seems that it might be more common in some other parts of the country.

The only people I know who say 'squid' are the same people who say 'word', despite being whiter than white and English.

Like Burning Down, I`ve never heard of "squids", but I`m familiar with "quid", which is slang that I used to use, along with "half a dollar" which meant 2 shillings and sixpence (= 12.5 pence). "Half a Dollar" was a piece of slang that dated from the days when one pound sterling = 4 US dollars. Imagine.

I think I just made it up myself tbh. What's so bizzare is that poster actually gave it a 2nd thought!

You didnt make it up. Had you actually read any of these last few posts, you would already know that. However if you had made it up, meaning it was a made-up term that nobody apart from yourself has ever used, then it makes even more sense that someone would question your use of it.

I was inspecting a vacant house yesterday and found a pearl white baby grand piano in the living room collecting dust. I have no idea how to get it out of there or if somebody is going to pick it up. I don't want it to die alone...

Is that a reference to Watergate or just something you made up?

Find a way. That's too good a chance to pass up.
