Renting is the only way to go. I've lived in a council house (parents') all my life, one way or another, except when I was really young and we all lived with my aunt, who owns her house (bought it for 4000 Irish Pounds, back in the Cretaceous Period!), so I'm exempt from the property --- or as they're calling it now unofficially but accurately, the Family Home --- tax. I have to say I'm so glad I'm not working any more; that abolishment of the PRSI allowance would be a hard thing to swallow!
Doesn't matter who's in power, the poor and vulnerable will always be screwed. I mean, who's going to upset the big earners who contribute to their election or re-election campaigns?
