Every Sunday I wake up around 6:30 AM and drive out to the outskirts of the Fraser Valley to scout out private campsites / secret spots to hang out at the following weekend. This weekend's discoveries were gold.
Hit the road at 7 AM, best weather we've had in 2015 thus far, worked on the truck with my dad all week so it's running better than it ever has, drove a bit further than usual, spotted a trail beside the road that I've never noticed before, pulled over, and ventured onward. About a 10 minute walk down the trail it forked, one way was quite overgrown and went straight up the mountain, the other was clear and flat, if woodsin' has taught me anything this year it's that the overgrown trails always lead to the most mind boggling ****. Only about 5 minutes up the overgrown trail I start hearing running water. I continue up along the side of the narrow stream for 5 more minutes, the trees open up, and I'm standing in front of this:

A miniature pool sized dam at the base of a waterfall, 3 sides walled with rock and 1 side with mossy concrete benches, subtly hidden at the end of an overgrown trail w/ no signs or indications of its existence. I dipped my leg in to test the waters and it was absolutely freezing but I'm sure if people had the balls to sit in water that cold it would hold at least ~10 people. So I hang out there for a bit, I try to climb up the side of the waterfall a few times to find the source but it was way too steep, and eventually just head back down along the stream to find where it leads. I follow it down back to the fork in the trail and continue along the more cleared out flat trail I saw earlier. Again the trail opens up and but this time instead of a beautiful hidden oasis at the bottom of a majestic waterfall...

An abandoned quarry, or at least it wasn't occupied when I stumbled upon it, probably about ~9 AM at this point. I knew there was a quarry nearby and I drive past the sign every time I go exploring but I'd never driven down the road to it because I just assumed it would be private property occupied by quarry workers. The trail to the waterfall unexpectedly wove around to the back of the quarry, and I'm assuming that the waterfall's stream leads down there and is utilized by the quarry workers in some way. But anyway, since there was nobody there, I immediately knew what I had to do. I ran my ass back to the road, jumped in the truck, threw on some Allman Brothers, and spent 15 minutes rippin' donuts and kickin' up dust clouds, leaving the ****in' Mona Lisa of tire tracks for the gentlemen who are probably there working right now. Immediately informed the crew when I got back into town, we're probably going to head back out there early next Sunday to mess around and/or race. There are no cops this far out of town so worst case scenario we end up getting chased out by some angry miners with shotguns.
