I donated exactly $52 to a Kickstarter campaign today, so the guy would be at precisely $3000. He's got two grand to go, and ten days. I was initially going to throw $20 his way, but then I decided that would be more of a milestone if I got him up to 3k. I'm also going to get my tax refund back pretty soon, have way more extra money hanging around than I'm used to, and nothing I really want to buy. I figured helping fund a short film I'm actually supporting the making of would be a good cause.
EDIT:
I was also alarmed today that people at work think I'm compelling. They act like I'm the Dos Equis guy or something. I think it's kind of depressing. Working at a call center doesn't allow for much free time, and a lot of the people I work with have kids and ****, so that further destroys their time to pursue hobbies.
I think I'm lucky to have a job with benefits and all, more than ample pay, and still not have enough hindrances in my life that I can enjoy and pursue hobbies and real interests. Even though that goddamned place is sucking the life out of me.
It'll get better when the new system works properly and doesn't forward EVERY call to my department in error. We were over 600 in queue today. Fun, fun, fun. We haven't been out of queue since we got the new phone system.
I've already gotten tired of verifying people, and them being like, "I didn't want financial services; I wanted tech support/customer service/customer relations/prepaid/any other department in the ****ING company that isn't financial services.
And I look at the queues for the others, and they always have: "Average wait time: 0 seconds" i.e. not in queue. This is ****ing ridiculous.
Also - have you ever had to deal with someone who's been waiting 20 minutes to talk to a real person, only to realize they're in the wrong department? Yeah. That's oodles of fun.
