So what do you guys think is the reason for the dramatic rise in autism? I realize that they have widened the scope of symptoms that fall under the autism spectrum, but that can't be the only reason that cases are more than 100 times more prevalent than they were in the 1970's.

Why can't it be the only reason?

That is the most logical reason, though. As well, the most likely cause of autism is genetic - as the population grows, so do the number of documented diagnoses of autism and all it's variants (Asperger's, Rett Syndrome, PDD-NOS, etc.)

Last day of term today. It would normally be a cause for celebration but I've got a lot of work to do that I don't feel I can actually make an attempt at properly and a holiday coming up in a couple of days that I'm probably going to hate. Still, I get to have lie-ins for the next couple of weeks, so it's a pretty good deal overall.

Today, I found out I made the FINAL FOUR in the bracket challenge at work! YEAH! I'm the hella Cinderella, too. In the final four are two 1 seeds, a 3 seed, and me, a 20 seed (I had some questionable QA scores when they were ranking us.)

Anyway, the winner wins CASH. And a fairly decent sum. According to the gentleman who won last year, they MATCHED his paycheck. Holy ****.

Aside from that, I said something VERY inadvertently racist. A guy I work with (who is Asian; Japanese, to be precise) was leaving at the same time as me, and I opened the first door for him, then kept walking down the hallway, checking my phone to see if my mom had called. I made it to the second door, and couldn't hear him so I thought he'd turned off down the hallway behind me and gone to the restroom. I almost let the second door close in his face, then saw him in my peripheral vision, and caught it.

I said, "Dude, I didn't even hear you! I thought you went down the other hallway! You're like a ninja!"

Then, he looked at me weird, and I was horrified at myself. I was like, "No, not because...I just mean you're super silent...uh...yeah."

 I wonder if he knew Kung Fu?

Well, I guess if he was a Ninja he certainly does.

He was super quiet, but I don't think calling him a ninja was racially sensitive.

Beautiful day today. I'll be riding the dirt bike today after work.

Great start to my day, I almost burned down the kitchen lighting an old glass jar candle.

I gave myself the fun task of finally cleaning my room today, after putting it off for a couple of months. It's boring as shizzle but actually feels really satisfying when you finish it. I even got to clean up a big stain that's festered away on my floor for oh, I dunno... a couple of years now? Unfortunately it's given my room the stink of Vanish spray but I can live with it for the long term benefits. All I need to do now is learn how to not burn food and I could be a passable housewife.

Pharmaceutical companies don't cure people, they create lifelong customers.

This coming from the guy who saw an alien or got kidnapped by ghosts or whatever.
