Very true. I already had one burger today. I'll be eating another later.

I still think fireworks are just a subtle hint to people that America will bomb you if you don't watch your back, though.

Really [Fourth of July] fireworks are a remembrance (really subtle passive-aggressive way of never letting go) the fact that the British Navy bombed the Colonies during the War of Independence. It's like a friend who won't let go pass grievances.

Except that the invention of fireworks predates Columbus by at least 500 years

Sometimes they're just pretty explosions in the sky....

I think fireworks are stupid, even if they are incredibly pretty explosions in the sky. Melbourne's New Year's Eve fireworks were $2.6 million and they weren't even extravagant ones. Surely that money can be better spent.

Paul I wasn't talking about fireworks in general... the conversation about fireworks on the Fourth of July.

If the money wasn't spent on the fireworks they wouldn't spend it anymore wisely it would go to something equally as trivial.

True, but it shouldn't. Is my point.

meh of course it shouldn't but that's how the government likes to run.

It's just like how when people get upset that their tax money is being spent on such and such. It doesn't matter because they are still going to take out your tax money regardless of what it is spent on

4th of July. Not my most favorite holiday. Fireworks get old really fast. Spent the day at my uncles house, then headed home. Not planning on watching the fireworks later.

Like the pockets of politicians that you didn't elect?
