I know. They have absolutely no reservations. It's actually kinda refreshing at times!

Today is going to be a good day for me. I get to be rude and assholish to people and they want me to do it. :D

No, we are running a simulation for the people that work for DSS and getting to be rude asses towards the social workers and show them how they treat people that go in there asking for help.

Department of social services and yes I'm playing the role of a social worker while social workers are playing the role of clients.

It's not only DSS involved but other service providers so they can get an understanding of how they are treating their clients and the perception their clients have of their behavoirs. I know not all case workers are as bad as some others but there are social workers that act like it's their money/funds they are in charge of giving to their client instead of emergency help that needs to be provided for.

What does CYS mean?

children and youth services. i had just never heard it called dss before but i could tell by context it was some human service thing

well thats pretty interesting and i am really not qualified to comment on your area or workers or whatever. and ive said it before once in the bitch box but i just really think human service workers get such a shaft by the public in terms of perception disguised as reality. i see ppl complainin on facebook, the internet, i see it in local newspapers, etc. of course every area, every company, etc is different but i just think in generall it takes nerve to be so critical of human service workers and of course im biased with reason. not a diss towards you, it sounds like an activity that could be helpful but i can also imagine it being one of those things that dss does so they can tell everyone 'hey we are doing everything we can, we even did roleplayin with an activism group." like one of those thing that is kinda half for show and half legit

We are also doing a follow up with the head of DSS in our area after this. We are going to have a sit down to talk about issues going on and find out if he has any solutions to them.

The problems in my area are different and it's really an issue that needs to be discussed. I also do see them making that statement after all they are the ones that came up with the idea and we are just participating in it.

For Example, they will sanction people taking GED courses if they don't go down to the labor department and look for a job from 9am to 3pm. The GED courses in my area are only held during the day. Also how are you going to get said job if you don't have a GED in the first place which is a basic requirement to have a GED or high school diploma for most jobs. Shady shit like that is going on.

Today had three interesting developments:

-I have to go out tonight and get reasonably drunk with some old "friends" from my previous school that I fell out with a few months ago. I really don't want to spend time with them any more but I won't be seeing them ever again come October and I figured I'd be a decent person and end our relationships on a high note.

-The reason I'm only getting reasonably drunk is because my school's requested that I turn up at 8AM tomorrow for a TV feature based around the Sixth Form exam results that are getting revealed. They "expect" that I'm in the top ten students so they want me to get interviewed before all the average grade riff-raff turn up and soil their reputation.

-The reason I said "expect" is because the school already knows what I've got and accidentally put it up on their website a day early. AABB. Not bad at all, although the subjects I earned those B's in will be the dealbreakers for whether I can slip in to my chosen Uni or not.

Circe 08-15-2013 03:24 AM

I GOT IN I GOT IN OH MY GOD I GOT IN

This is too unbelievable to be true. I somehow got accepted into my first choice of Uni despite being one grade short. TYBG etc.
