You're being equally insulting by treating my opinion like it holds no weight simply because of assumptions you're making about my life. Aka you're being a prick so I'm going to treat you the same way. I have no interest in disclosing what I've personally experienced that makes me feel so strongly about this

So how bout them Lakers?

Acting on it or not is the kicker. Clearly she did not, nor would she, I think.

Anger is a normal reaction. But repeatedly calling for killing a 15 year old is disturbing.

Oh sorry, I wasn't aware that I was making it sound like your opinion had no weight. Not that I recall saying anything of the sort. Anger is the first reaction anybody would have in a situation. And had she had of had a pistol, I'm 99% sure she wouldn't have the balls to pull the trigger. Human life is always worth something. However, there's no need to attack someone and insult someone over a normal reaction.

My assumptions are educated guesses based on what YOU have said. Reactions are triggered based on previous experiences. Your reactions indicate the lack there of.

I'm always a few posts behind, but this is probably my last of the night before I go to bed - really tired for some reason.

Yeah I still don't understand why you think that going to jail or to juvie will "reform" him. And I think most 15 year olds probably don't contribute to society in a meaningful way, plus I don't see how you can say "As a kid he did some bad stuff therefore he's never going to do anything good in his life."

I realize that my status as a well-dressed, put together, twentysomething white woman with a clean record gives me the privilege of naturally being treated with more care than some other persons belonging to other demographics. But in how many other situations does this apply? Hardly any. So I'm treated favorably by the police. So what? I'm treated like garbage by the rest of society just because I'm a woman.
So it means that you might be right when you say that you wouldn't be charged with a crime if you shot a guy. That's pretty awful, I think. I'd also argue that being white comes with privilege in a lot of situations, not "hardly any" - as does being a man, of course. This isn't really relevant to the main argument, I was mainly using it as a way to get at the ability of the justice system to rehabilitate.

DeadChannel 05-27-2015 07:49 PM

I'm actually going to mostly side in the middle on this one. The kid doesn't deserve to die, but she is more than right to be angry. I think that's similar to what fiddler's saying (?)

But, please Lil, don't use the whole "you're only fifteen years old" argument from authority and actually address Josef's points? It's condescending, patronising, hand-waving and a logical fallacy.

And, just for the sake of being fair: YorkeDaddy, a lot of the time when you get into debates, you actually bring good points, but it's hard to take them seriously when you're ad homineming all over everyone.

I'm out. Figure it out.

And it's not the first time for that shithead, either. I don't care about his life situation, who he is, where he's from, any of that. I. Don't. Care. He's a juvenile delinquent scumbag.

Please. I consider myself a compassionate, kind individual. To those who deserve it and actually have something to contribute to society instead of acting like morons, screwing with people for no reason, and just generally being complete wastes of oxygen. Decent human beings are worthy of my unending love.

So basically you're a Republican?

You're bragging that you think you can get away with murder? That's disgusting. Oh, and when you shoot somebody in the back over a purse, I think the whole "innocent-looking, crying young lady" thing might go out the window.

The bull**** meter is going off the charts. I'm saying it's downright gross to call for the death of a 15 year old regardless of context. You're telling me I'm wrong for saying that. Please tell me how it can be interpreted any other way except "this guy is telling me my opinion holds no weight"

Your assumptions are flat wrong so I'm going to have to ask you again to shut the **** up. My "reaction" is that of complete disgust and outrage BECAUSE I have so much experience with delinquent kids and I've seen first hand why they do what they do and how they can fix themselves.

So if a 15 year old kid rapes and murders twenty women and he gets the death penalty? Is that gross? Her reaction is normal, perhaps extreme, but normal. The kid does not deserve to die, and I highly doubt that she truly believes that.

So then control your emotions and present a logical argument instead of calling someone who has a difference in opinions a douchebag. So, were you a delinquent kid who got out of the rat race? Or are you one of the ones who help them? Were you abused? Or just screwed over on a regular basis?
