I recently made my resume searchable on one of the job search sites. I've been on there for a long time, but I haven't had to look for a job in over ten years. I just wanted to test the waters. Whoa. They're coming out of the woodwork.
A lot of the places that are contacting me require some relocation to other states, some with great salaries, but I don't want to break up my happy home right now. My daughter has had a solid foundation there, and I have it pretty easy with my commute through the cornfields and don't have to worry about traffic really and all that BS that comes with commuting in the city. I also have a lot of freedom to do what I want since I'm the only one that holds down three different departments, which are CAD/IT/Marketing.
Yesterday, I got a call from one of the top industry leaders looking to hire me, and they are 5 minutes away from where I'm working now. The job I'm at now, although it's an honorable position to be in, there's just no room for growth. I'll never go beyond where I'm at, so this could be a blessing but... it could also be used for leverage.
Things are about to change for this old dude.
