In my current marketing position, I actively use about 3 concepts that I learned from the three marketing courses I took.

I don't mind academia though. I find it more interesting to go over concepts with good minds than to just collect them on my own.

Lot of people go to school who don't need too for example business degrees and computer programming degrees will leave you in a lot of debt for stuff you could have taught yourself

i actually totally agree with you but i'm taking a business degree out of necessity because i already have a job waiting for me when i'm finished.

It's a real catch-22 of the diploma as a form of job entry, especially with something like accounting. You can teach yourself all you want but no one's going to take a green accountant off of the street without a diploma.
