10th day with the flu. Should have gotten a shot a couple of months back. I can deal with the fact that my body has become a phlegm factory, and that every time I sneeze or cough it feels like I'm getting hit in the skull with an Estwing, but totally fed up with the nausea.

Have re-lost 10 of the pounds I'd recently regained.

having a 9-5 labor job is uninspiring and exhausting and that's if you're lucky enough to get a set schedule like that
Prob not gonna make money from music for a while but I'll figure things out as I go I guess. We're all committed and best friends though so idk hopefully we'll still be doing this 10 years from now but the rest of them are almost done with university and have similar aspirations. I worked 35 hours a week sometimes and if I wasn't doing school at the same time I would've had so much free time still. What I'm saying is that whatever happens job-wise I'm willing to power through it.

I'll check that dictionary, but in the meantime I'm impressed - as is everyone else in the world - by your eloquence, obvious accomplishments and success, and the evidence of your blazingly high intelligence.

Man, even if you're still young and dumb it's great to have something to be passionate about, and even if it doesn't work you should still follow that **** as long as it keeps you fulfilled, but just, you know, don't ignore your backup plans if all of this doesn't work out. Your chosen career path is gonna be hectic at best.

Problem these days with people trying to earn a living making music is that there's just too many of them.

It's too damn easy to get your stuff out there.

Own a PC? Check. Got a decent DAW software program? Check. A million free available loops and samples? Check. Extremely easy online outlets for distributing your music? Check.

Good luck with that.

The biggest difference is how many of the artists actually care about making music compared to those that don't. So many artists put forth half assed efforts in hopes of quickly blowing up and 'making dat money' then give up when it doesn't happen fast enough.

Lucem, you're right, it's silly to talk about what I would or wouldn't do IRL. Glad you brought it up. Maybe you should write an instrumental about it. I recommend a piano paired with a clarinet. With ambient sounds of you hanging from your shower curtain you ****ing failure.

I mean like, I recognize that for sure so at the very least my backup plan is that I can easily go back to college after completing the transfer program at my community college (which I'm almost done with anyways). I'm fine with hectic too I suppose, or I'll learn to be.

Honestly, even though the rest of my band isn't, I'd be content even if we never got out of our local scene. If we're one of the best bands in the local scene, and people care about us and want to see us for like 5 or 7 years or so, I'd be fine with that. And then dying maybe.

Amen. Even if that means there's way too much **** out there now.

Ya, cause this like what I posted. You missed my point by a country mile.

I also didn't mention large corporations.

Soundcloud currently has 175 million active contributing members. Bandcamp has over 2,000 music labels.

For $100 I can set up a bedroom recording studio - as long as non-virtual instruments aren't included. The upload/download speeds for digital music is no longer a hurdle for either the artist or the listener.

My only point is that it's a ****ing hard career these days to try and make a living.

Hell, it was hard enough back in 1981 when I gave it up and went with Plan B.

Yeah, but most of those people don't put much effort into their music and aren't usually passionate about music, they're passionate about the fame, money or pussy they think they can get with music and give up when they don't become a star fast enough. People that set up cheep bedroom studios are a dime a dozen to the passionate people that shell out the money for studio recordings.
