It's not looking good. He deteriorated rapidly. They're worried there may be brain damage and his kidneys are not doing good either. The doctors are not hopeful. They're bringing an infectious disease specialist and a kidney specialist in and if isn't too frail tonight they'll do a CT scan. I handle death and crises fairly well usually since I can detach but this is so sudden and jarring. He's on full support and is extremely unresponsive. We are just waiting for him to stabilize. Meanwhile, I'm having to prepare for the worst; my brother is my dad's entire life and I worry about what he may do if my brother dies. Anyway, I can only type this right now because I'm in a state of detached shock (until I see my brother in the ICU again with all the tubes in him-- then it all hits me). Won't really know anything until they can do a CT scan. I've been worried about his health for years and have actually gone through this scenario in my head but I am extremely worried about my parents. They're crumbling before my eyes. My sister and I are just trying to hold everyone together and keep them from falling into a guilt spiral again.

Nothing I can say, really. Keep hoping; if the worst happens I guess your parents will need you for support and you'll need them. Try not to fall to pieces yet, and if you need to talk you surely know everyone is here for you. We'll be thinking of you and your brother. I don't know if you're religious (I'm not) but if so, I guess a prayer couldn't hurt. Is there a chapel or anything there? Maybe just taking a little break might help. I don't know; I'm just rambling really. So sorry you have to go through this; if I can help in any way just let me know. Anything you want, you know that.

Damn. Now that I'm getting a bit older and my mom and grandparents are getting a lot older I'm having my own nightmare scenarios, but luckily nothing has happened yet. Can't imagine what all that must be like. Keep your chin up and here's a terrible AMV.

Sorry that you and your family are going through this Chio. Really hope everything turns out OK.

My Mom nearly died from pneumonia about twenty-five years ago. She was forty-eight at the time but she also smoked fairly moderately. She did survive, thankfully. I don't know what health issues your brother may have (I think you did mention he's overweight), but he's young so keep your hopes up. Anything can happen. :)

Oh yeah, my kitty has pneumonia atm, but she's been doing good for the past week, so hopefully that's some kinda sign or some ****.

Nothing quite as sad as a sick cat. Hope she makes a full recovery. Is this the one that only came back recently after having been away for years? Or am I mixing you up with Merit? I'm pretty sure you said your cat had reappeared after so long you thought you'd never see her again...
