Because there is a lot of excitement and tension involved and I've never seen anyone act like that in a restaurant. Pubs yes, but that's a big part of what pubs are for.

The excitement makes sense if you have money riding on it but holy **** is it annoying.

I like to watch a game and know nothing about the teams, players, season standings, or anything and just pick a side based on whatever random thing pops up, and then go ape shit about that team for just one game. High fives all around.

That’s an interesting comparison. It doesn’t seem quite equivalent to me but then I’m not into sports so what do I know.

I’ve seen it in a restaurant many times, including yesterday. The most obnoxious was when I was having breakfast in a fancy diner in California and a handful of drunk British guys were at its tiny bar yelling at soccer on the TV at like 9AM.

As far as pubs go, over here that’s not what they’re about. There are sports bars all over the place for people to yell in.

I'm not sure if I'm getting taller or dumber, but I've been hitting my head on a lot of stuff this weekend.

Maybe things are getting lower.
