Yep. And the private company Pearson (god throw their CEO into hell to burn forever) has a monopoly on education, and I have to provide just ****ing insane amounts of information to them on the unit I'm teaching this week, including videos, in order to become fully licensed!

**** Pearson forever and ever, amen

Pearson Education has harmed tens of millions of school kids and their rigid systematic one size fits all test centered education policies that they’ve lobbied into law has caused dysfunctional classrooms and destroyed entire schools and they do have blood on their hands for problems like bullying and teen suicide. Counselors have become test coordinators instead of providers of guidance because of them. Curriculum is not properly differentiated because of them. Disabled youth are not handled in a commonsensical manner because of them. They have systematically replaced the human element with capitalistic concerns in school. I’m not saying that this has happened everywhere to everyone in America’s public schools but it has indeed happened in a lot of places. And I don’t give a **** what anybody says or what their excuses are. It ****ing is like that.

The ones they’re really sucking blood out of is the kids though. They’ve turned every third grader into a commodity.

Professionally, I benefited from their structure in that I could easily pass their certification exams. But all that means is that I’m good at passing their tests because I know how those c unts think. What you need to understand is that their reductionist test-taking obsessed approach to education has devastating consequences for people (mostly children) who are just as smart or even much smarter but in a different way that doesn’t fit their mold.
