they have (had) a system called VAM -value added model - which compares your students’ gains against computer generated projected gains of whoever would replace you
a score of 0 meant they figure the next teacher would be almost the same 3 was a good score -3 was a bad score whatever algorithm they used factored in the reality that ghetto kids never learn **** tbh if you’re teaching rich suburban kids who test well you’re VAM score can get ****ed really easily because if a few kids don’t make Adequate Yearly Progress and drop from a top percentile to a medium or lower that ****s up your rating more than a bunch of historically ****ty test takers staying ****ty what makes teaching ghetto kids so torturous is they destroy everything they yell and cuss all day and constantly vandalize everything people visit rich kid schools and there’s nice **** on the walls and good working computers and a nice library - ghetto kids get all that **** too though but they destroy it after a few years you get ****ing sick of it the kids are victims of history and circumstance - you know that but over time their cultural disease drives you crazy your good intentions turn into disgust

While stopping for gas this afternoon I pulled up beside a handsome 1950s grey Studebaker Champion, and the driver was wearing a vintage suit and hat.
I commended the fellow on his car. He smiled and said, "I just heard great news on the radio." "Oh really? What's that?" I asked. "General Eisenhower is going to be running for president!" he replied. (Didn't get a shot of his actual car but here's a close match.)

gave my presentation on Venezuela and it went fast. i talked fast and got through the 7 slides fast. two girls did the "harmful" effects of marijuana, didnt even mention anything it does good. this essay wasnt a argumentative essay so she shouldnt have been picking a side and saying its harmful, if she wanted to just research marijuana, thats fine. but only researching the harmful effects is not the way society is going. billions of dollars are invested in the future of marijuana as a safer alternative to alcohol and other drugs.
one homie in my class did his whole final research essay on bob marley lol it was good too, he played "one" during his presentation. one did a robot arm, from 3d printing just cracked the top off a NOS energy drink and about to studying now for one of my finals tomorrow   happy earth day musicbanters!
