How do we know how a pool ball feels?

The point is the complete avoidance of a thing that reacts to physical forces.

This is more interesting than free will. How did consciousness arise anyway?

And I can't say anything to make this obvious difference clear to you and... omg somebody hang me a gun to put myself out of my misery.

You do understand that pool balls aren't aware right? Oh, yeah, you're still on nitpicking the 'better awareness' line.

You're making this into a "He believes this because it makes him feel better." bull**** argument again. It's a lot like Christians who say that atheists are just telling themselves god doesn't exist to feel better about sinning.

No, believing I'm different from a pool ball doesn't make me feel better. Believing in free will, a stance I never took, wouldn't make me feel better. Whether or not free will exists is completely irrelevant and it does not give existence any sort of objective importance that you think it does.

Prove it.

Then OH falls back on the other Christian argument.

My proof is the lack of evidence that they have awareness. Especially understanding that awareness typically comes from living organisms that have brains.

A pool ball's awareness is different from ours. They can, if necessary, sing.

Pool balls are sick of the oppressive humans beating them with sticks.

ok but since all the matter in our brains was once not a part of any sort of biological life as we understand biological life to be shouldn’t we refrain from ruling out that all matter has some form of awareness or consciousness even if it’s so distant from ours as to be totally unrecognizable

I’m not saying I believe that and the burden of proof would certainly be on someone who does but since we’re nowhere near cracking the hard problem of cosciousness I’m not sure if panpsychism should be taken completely off the table.
