in terms of real world consequence, it seems moot, as if the choices you make would drastically change if only you realized you were making them

a man can not pull himself up by his own bootstraps

see once again that's the contrast

To me, the choices you make and the way you conduct yourself is the most relevant thing you can address in terms of day to day life.

Where as criticisms of the system are more abstract and removed from how your life might actually be changed.

I guess that's why you're willing to vote for someone like Trump cause you can imagine how he might improve your life but the wider world he might ruin doesn't exist.

Nah. I was just sucked into the cult of personality and not concerned about the potential harm done. You know when Trump won me over? When they accused him off calling women fat pigs on the republican debate stage and his response was "only Rosie O'Donnell."

I didn't vote though. Contrary to popular opinion I'm not a republican either. Only time I ever voted was for Obama in 08.

I'm just only personally interested in the latter as I'm not a self-help guru

I don't think it takes a self help guru to realize that sometimes you need to get your **** together

I have rejected my share of self help people in the past. I get why it's corny. But you shouldn't write off every message about self improvement as snake oil and thus reject it. Especially if you're in a position like I am where you're not at all satisfied about where you are in life.

As for the last part I'm not saying politics isn't important. It's a worth while career for the people who care to take it on. It's just not a quick fix like I said so taking on **** in your own life head on is more pragmatic

So is the democrat POV that anything good that happens to you is because of the system?

I mean so is biology and the natural world.. who cares? You play the game of life making decisions you have control over.. and if you want more decisions you take steps to make them available.

Autism isn't connected with intelligence. You'd know that if you weren't a moron.
