If things didn't change, punk wouldn't have evolved past Woodie Guthrie.

the whole idea is that it isn't Rock music in the traditional sense
Nope. It's more about what music can be and how truly universal musicianship is than about what their music isn't.

I haven't found that applying some drill noises to a conventional rock structure really does it any justice
That's because it doesn't and it doesn't have to. Artists like Slauson Malone/Standing on the Corner are carrying on the spirit of Throbbing Gristle more than the majority of self-proclaimed industrial artists, but that's more about their approach than their sound. It doesn't make an artist like Author and Punisher lose their industrial-ness unless you're just chasing the past.

Right on, keep on Jim Crowin those genres.

I feel like industrial is a lot like punk music in sense that it's a general attitude towards making it. You can't tell me this isn't an industrial masterpiece, even if it's completely different to late greats like TG and Cabaret Voltaire

That should be as big of an oof as Skinny Puppy but ja they're dope.

The audio recordings that Peter Sotos and Whitehouse released are one thing, but Uboa is a good example of a modern industrial act taking on the unsettling, primal philosophy of TG. It's some of the only music that makes me too uncomfortable to listen to.

Like '80s Heart?

Einstürzende Neubauten are the creators of what I consider industrial.

I see that wiki defines it differently though.

I like Ministry and Skinny Puppy in a way that’s similar to how I like Green Day. That’s not even a dis because I like Green Day.

Just so I’m clear Einstürzende Neubauten are unassailable. The other bands I mentioned here are not.

Nah, the 70s were their prime, but I thought that Rush still did pretty well in the 80s.
