My aunt/godmother died yesterday after a long illness (heart/kidney failure). We had a close bond and spoke nearly every day. We always ended our phone calls with me saying, "Who the best godmother ever?" and she'd (graciously) reply, "Who's the best goddaughter?". Depressing times right now.

Thank you so much, Marie. Sadly she died of a massive heart attack at her home in Louisiana, so unfortunately no final goodbye yesterday. I wish I had called before it happened.

That's awful, so sorry for your loss.

What a beautiful relationship the two of you had - the kind of bond that makes the loss that much more difficult to process. I hope you are remembering all of the good times today, and that you are receiving the support you need. If not, know there are people, if you can call us forumistas people, that are here for you.
