We’ll see. I figure if you’re gonna make the call you oughta be able to do it. Plus, **** paying someone to kill my dog. And I don’t want to share the moment. But idk we’ll see. I think it would be way less traumatic for my dog. She doesn’t like the vet. She knows they kill dogs there.

.... You should leave it to professionals

If you had a relative who was terminally ill I'm assuming you'd prefer having a medical professional administer an assisted suicide in a controlled environment over you relying on yourself in an emotionally unstable state to stand there and pull the trigger.

No. As long as Eddie can enjoy his life we'll let him continue on. Once we know it's a case of his being in pain or hating every day, or just struggling on, we'll do the right thing. Sorry but as someone who already stated they wouldn't have a pet you're not qualified to give an opinion here, no offence.

Well we don't have guns here and that's definitely not something I'd do. Probably shoot my own leg off while he skittered away!

It is humane. It's also very very traumatic for the person, if you stay as they do it, which I always have done. It's the trusting eyes closing that does it.

This would never happen: Hawk is a white man.

I’ve listened to 20% of my 2016 playlist.

I'm honestly not just saying this to be a dick TH. I know it's hard to lose a pet.

You telling me that I'm not qualified to have an opinion is bull****. Cause I didn't own a cat for 18 years?? I had my dad for 23 years and then he died of cancer. There was a point before he died where I would've killed him myself if it was legal. I know what loss feels like and I'm not saying it's easy.

I'm not an expert on cats but an 18 year old cat with no teeth and possibly cancerous growths on its legs.. I really think it's more humane to put it down. That's my opinion that I'm not qualified to have.

I'm not saying you can't have an opinion on shall we say euthanasia, but as you don't understand the connection people have with pets, you're not qualified (sorry but you're just not) to give advice to anyone about their pet. Because to you, it's just a dumb animal, and you have already said you don't understand how attached people can get to their pets. Therefore you don't appreciate the bond between the two, therefore your opinion is, in this instance and on this subject, worthless.

I mean, yeah, you can have an opinion - nobody can stop you from doing that. But I'm just not recognising any authority from you on the subject. Sorry. Eddie lives. As long as he's comfortable. If you don't understand that we want that, then you've already made my point for me.

No offence intended.

Even if he isn’t a pet person he’s not denying your love for your cat. He understands what means to love in the broad sense. I actually agree with him but it’s your decision. When you share on here people offer opinions. It’s the nature of the place. He can be terse but he’s not trying to be cruel. Plus sharing about his dad is a more than fair personal example.

Anyway, I hope it continues to go good for you.

PS jwb HOW ****ING DARE YOU TELL ME NOT TO SHOOT MY DOG???

IF you had a dog you’d understand

Yeah I don't directly relate to being so attached to a cat but I know what it's like to lose a pet, I've had cats growing up and I have lost them and been sad about it. Iv also worked at an animal shelter for 2 years. I'm not claiming any authority on the subject and like OH said it's your decision. I just think it's easy to let your emotional attachment to the animal get in the way of actually preventing unnecessary suffering. You say he's comfortable. Maybe you know better than I do what it feels like to be an 18 year old cat with no teeth and growths on its legs
