don't you have to season those pans and it takes like 3hrs

the actual hassle is cleaning it you don't use soap
You boil water in it and then pour it out and let it dry and then use a towel and some olive oil to clean it

That's all? I love cooking salmon and scrambled eggs in it. It's not even that sticky

i dunno i can't imagine it's worth breaking out for scrambled eggs tbh .. something like tomato sauce or chili where it cooks and flavors for hours is more what i would use it for

I bought it a few days ago so I'm still fairly excited about it. We'll see how long this lasts...

Is it a dutch oven?

jadis 05-15-2022 11:25 AM

Nah a skillet. I'll get one of those too some day but right now I live abroad and don't want to buy anything as heavy. Even the skillet was an impulse buy.

Spent the day caring for a friend’s 16 year old Beagle dog. Senile and pugnacious he wanders around my garden every time finding it totally new and worth exploring. I’ve been lucky in catching him when he needs to piddle and taken him outside otherwise my carpets would be suffering. Now and again he thinks he’s a puppy and runs full pelt resulting in him falling over sideways with the legs still going. Interestingly he appears to get his act together when I put his food in the microwave. Like me, he’s way past his use-by date so we understand each other.

Don’t get me started on oriental eating habits. Anyhow, we in the West aren’t saints. When working as a chef I witnessed appalling cruelty dished out by young males in an attempt to prove how tough they were . A favourite was to cut off crayfish/lobsters eyes and pour vinegar into the sockets. I once sacked an entire team for playing that game. Had to shut down for a week but it was worth the inconvenience.
I wasn’t able to do anything when in a market in China we witnessed dogs being skinned alive. The perpetrators waited until groups of Western tourists were in front of their stall. We are a vicious species. I have a fantasy an advanced intelligent form of Crayfish invade our planet deciding the best way to cook humans is to boil them slowly to death.

Just tested positive for COVID. It's kicking my a**. I was so militant about taking precautions - I got a doctor's note to let me work from home everyday to avoid contact with people in the office, I masked up on the rare occasions that I left my home, I washed my hands for 21 seconds every time I touched a surface, and left the house for only 6 minutes once every two weeks to get groceries. Somehow, I still caught it. I've never felt so sick in my life. :(

Thankfully, I am free to self-isolate in my home and I have everything I need here. I used Instacart to have medicinal supplies delivered last night.

I have a very special birthday vacation coming up in less than four weeks. Really hoping I can overcome the illness in time. I'm planning to not leave the house for the next 4 weeks to be extra safe.
