I ask of myself, and you all, WHY DO PEOPLE CALL ME BUDDY? I never understood why, and I had 5 people call me buddy today, which is a tad more than usual. It's almost as condescending as "hon/hun".

I do agree it sounds condescending, but only the way they address you. If they say it condescendingly, they want to appear with higher authority, but me and my friends say it all the time and even people I meet for the first time. Doesn't really bother me.

If more than one person is accusing you of being condescending then maybe you should pick up on the tone and the way you are speaking to people and realize that you MAY actually be condescending to them without realizing it.
