That's actually a pretty common feeling to have. I have felt at times that even with my vote the country won't be run the way I want it. I can't stand the party that is in now and do actually support the opposition who I always vote for. I just hope they get in before all the graduates have left NZ because employers won't hire them or fire them after 3 months and a huge percent of people depending on the state.

That's understandable but still pretty ignorant, in my experience, well from the people I know who are like that, they're a bunch of privileged white boys who have that mentality, they act is if there is nothing wrong and usually favour weed legalisation over **** like birth control and abortion and ****. That disgusts me, my ex was like that, he'd always claim that he didnt get into a good school because probably a black person took his space and they have to fill a quota, he thinks he's entitled to endless money for free but trashes people on welfare. Ughhhhhhh

I understand that feeling when it comes to a National level but local politics are usually very close races. I'm talking mayors, city council members and things of that nature. When you vote those people in you are technically their boss and if they aren't doing what they platformed on you can always do something about it. Their offices are so close by that you can go visit them or even call them and voice your concerns and let them know they are ****ing up and to expect not to last much longer/get re-elected.
