Not really. Mao was basically the Trump of his era. He didn't listen to engineers or anyone with expertise (which is why his attempts at large scale commercial irrigation projects all failed), was anti-science and in general was incompetent.

He was absolutely fantastic at getting people to form groups and kill all the property owners. The GOAT in fact.

People who own multiple properties directly cause homelessness so therefore they should suffer as the homeless do with deprivation starvation and constant fear. That’s why re-education camps are fully justified. The rich have to understand how their hoarding of wealth property and resources causes others to suffer and that can only be learned first hand. Poor children have a much higher child mortality rate for example. A quick lesson that would hit home nicely would be to reverse that statistic.
