Well the population is very international but historically these population groups didn't intermarry so it didn't really benefit the genepool. Many English people look inbred for sure lol

Ah yes the good old coffin ships. With only death from starvation awaiting them at home, thousands of Irish pinned their hopes on a life in the New World. Many died before even reaching American shores, and those that did make it, well, let's just say there may have been a severe shortage of red carpet at that time.

Even so, the Irish very much helped build America, not least the railroad system and especially the TCR.

The idea in England of course was to keep marriage within extended families, as you'll see from any Dickens novel: cousins married, sometimes even brothers married sisters. The idea being, I guess, to keep the upper class dominant and ensure there was no intermixing with the lower strata of society, hence why a commoner could not marry a rich person. That of course resulted in a lot of inbreeding, nowhere more than in the royal families.

That's true. The Irish (as well as the Italians, Poles, etc) had to deal with a lot of prejudice and bigotry. But they assimilated and now can proudly be as bigoted as any other red blooded American.

And don't forget they also gave us the Kennedys.

We're still working on it too. I had a short stint with GMEMD, which is a firm that designs locomotives.

Now pass me a Guinness and someone to punch.

Dana was in a car accident today.

She's okay physically. Probably not okay mentally. Some sh*thead didn't want to miss her exit so they crossed four lanes of traffic coming out of the Lincoln Tunnel and broadsided her. She spun out and hit the median going 60mph. Counting some blessings right now because that kind of accident ends up with a flipped car and a hospital visit more ofte than not. She has common injuries associated with air bag and collision...scratches and brusies...but the fact that they didn't feel the need to bus her to the hospital is a good sign.

Right now I'm waiting for my business partner to get back. He's on a house call. Can't leave the shop. Sh*t sucks.

Yeah. Very relieved.

Insurrance will be cake. She had a witness and cops already said she was not at fault. I put a dash cam in her car a few months back so we'll have the footage too.

Thing that really sucks is that car accidents are literally her biggest fear. She has reaccuring nightmares about them. She's been in therapy because of it. This is literally her nightmare. I have no idea how this is going to play out going forward. She's strong minded so I'm hoping this doesn't cause a traumatic barrier with driving but it might.

Crazy thing was that we just talked about this yesterday because I read that NJ traffic accidents are up like 30% this year and told her to drive with more caution. Literally yesterday.

Life can be crazy ya'll.

I hated driving in the New York area, especially on the Jersey side.

Glad she's okay, Exo.
