Chapter 5 – Equal Opportunity: Budget 2017's Gender Statement

Seems like Canada is making great strides in gender equality but focussing on issues that not only impact women, but also tackling issues that effect girls.

Oh... that's the same gender. Maybe next time.

Tell me again about how men's rights activism isn't simply a philosophy of anti-feminist contrarianism.

There's no philosophy. It would just be nice if there was equal treatment. When you're arguing in favour of Men you would be best served to state that outright - as opposed to simply calling yourself a "Human Rights Advocate".

In cases where issues affect both genders similarly you revert back to the broader definition. And swap over to Female when it affects women more.

Ja that's about what I expected.

So that bill specifically, how does it create inequality for men? I didn't read it. It might be more convincing if you actually discuss what you see wrong with the bill instead of just going "lol, feminists amiright fellas?"

Just a few excerpts, but I think if you gave it a reasonable skim you would see what I'm talking about. The term "Women" has 200 hits, whereas "Men" comes up 61 times.

Snazzy, irrelevant factoid you've got there.

So this is a big deal to you? Equal wages, increased representation for the underrepresented in both market and government, and curbing gender-based violence for the group that is experiencing it? Maybe the law seems unequally dismissive of men because they don't actually face these issues that the bill addresses on a wide scale. Kind of affirms the idea that men's rights activism is whiny anti-feminism at its core from where I'm sitting.

"When you're accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression."

I know you understand the wage gap stuff so let's scoot past that.

How exactly are the government going to promote equal representation in business or government without some kind of forced affirmative action?

Domestic violence shouldn't be a gendered issue, and the disparity between the genders isn't particularly wide.
