I have been on Music Banter for 10 years. It feels so weird! I know I haven't been on much lately but will try pop on when I have time. Been working lots at the library it's a great job in the interim. What have you guys been up to lately? Is it quiet here now?

I've been banned. Twice.

Within three months I may add.

Vanilla!! It's so nice to see you post again! Let me be the first to congratulate you on your ten years residence here (though I see that anniversary was really six months back).
That's a lot of time in anyone's life; do you feel you have changed a lot ? And I wonder if any of that change is down to MB?

I'm glad to hear that you're busy, as that is so much better than being bored. I also am working a lot and only post about 3 or 4 times a week. A lot of the "old guard" have either gone or are lurking, I guess, so yes, imo MB is quiet, especially as that posting powerhouse, Trollheart, has gone AWOL. :(

MB seems quieter than it was, but that could be because I'm less active than I was. There are undeniably a bunch of missing faces--nice to see you're not one of them any longer.

Longest I've been with a forum is 5 years, and over there we talk about that like it's some kind of feat, 10 years is amazing. It really is impressive for such a small site to stay relevant to its users for so long.

I think MB is actually one of the bigger music forums out there.
It's just that there are so few active members nowadays.

Yeah I'm pretty certain I ended up here simply by Googling "music forum", it's at the top of the results. But 10+ years later, this place is small even relative to mid-sized forums. Forums in general just don't seem to be the medium of choice anymore. There are a few massive forums kicking around still but in general I think most people just go to Facebook for discussions of any size now. I like it like this, though. For me the ideal forum size has always been 20 - 40 active members, anything more than that and the characters kind of get drowned out, the personalities get buried.

Quiet? yeah. I log on MB, listen to an album, or play a bunch of videos, and think about posting something about some band, but never do. I didn't know there was talk of changing the flag. Also didn't know that NZ was somehow still connected to Britain, at least in name. Is this all about finally severing any remaining ties to your benevolent, British overlords?

Quite nice. They've voted to keep the current flag with the Union Jack (can't blame them :cool:), only found out about this whole thing the other day. They're part of the Commonwealth and will remain so.

But... I did Google it. It's how I found out...

Im surprised you haven't become a troll by now, ive only been using the internet for like 6 years and every year ive become more cynical and detached. i honestly fear that by the time i hit the 10 year mark like you i'll be nothing but a heartless troll.. or worse.. i'll become the batlord.
