Default What unofficial observances do you recognize?

Did you know that March is National Cheerleader Safety Month, National Noodle Month and National Umbrella Month? Today is the Ides of March. Yesterday was Albert Einstein's birthday and National Pi Day (3/14). (I don't know if this works outside of the US because most likely everywhere else the short date for March the 3rd is 14.3.)
Besides being National Pi Day 3/14 was also:
  • Celebrate Scientists Day!
  • Commonwealth Day!
  • Fill Our Staplers Day!
  • Genius Day!
  • International Ask a Question Day!
  • Learn About Butterflies Day!
  • National Children's Craft Day!
  • National Potato Chip Day!
  • National Save a Spider Day!
  • National Workplace Napping Day!

List of unofficial observances by date

List of commemorative months

Are there any unofficial observances or "National ... Day" or "National ... Month" that you make a point to tell people about? Or do you think this stuff is way out of control?

Towel Day is big in my household. Talk Like a Pirate Day is a good laugh as well.

I was intrigued to learn of Data Privacy Day from your post - thanks for turning me on to it!

I went to a hemp fest once on 4/20, other than that I can't think of any.

International Beer Day and National Workplace Napping Day are both looking like annual events worthy of celebration to me though.

And if any female cheerleaders need a spotter for the remaining days this month during National Cheerleader Safety Month, I'll be more than happy to lend a helping hand (or two.)

I'll check that dictionary, but in the meantime I'm impressed - as is everyone else in the world - by your eloquence, obvious accomplishments and success, and the evidence of your blazingly high intelligence.

Yesterday was April Fools Day, and I didn't see anyone celebrating it with nonsense threads like they did a few years back which means either the forum is slowly maturing or it's slowly getting slower.

Today is 4/2 which in the rest of the world (or in most places) it's 2.4 and has no connection to the number, 42. OK I have posted a decent video on the subject. I noticed in the video they do not mention dice. If you take any number side of a die and then add the opposite side you get seven. In total there are twenty-four pips on a die and with two of them there are 42 pips. So if the "Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything" is forty-two it probably means it's a crap shoot. Which is totally opposite of what Einstein thought, which was "God does not play dice with the universe."

42 and Douglas Adams - Numberphile

But back to the forum topic - April 2nd is perhaps most famous for being NATIONAL PEANUT BUTTER AND JELLY DAY!

Let's see those sandwich selfies!

I observe the day by going to the toilet.

I was at a Steak and Soda shop yesterday (June 20th) and the waitress told me it was National Vanilla Milkshake Day.
